BUG Story Visits the VW Van Page ......A 1965 Beetle, which traveled coast to coast via a triple level transport during the dead of winter in '96, might have thought she was on the way to the junk yard, especially after being accidently dropped from the middle section of the huge truck. But, inconveniences like a smashed running board, ruined fender and crushed hubcaps didn't stop this journey.

Beetle fascination began for Jane when at age 7, she saw "The Love Bug," and years later when her dream car appreared in a Hot VWs classified photo ad, the phone lines between the two Oceansides (NY & CA) were busy, and not only was a deal worked out, but the two women became friends, as their interest in the Volkswagen jumped over several decades of age differences.

Happily, the transport company paid for the damage, and today "Lady" is an all original, non-restored 1965 VW Beetle.



Jane's love and pride is evident when she writes that her Volkswagen has never let her down in their 12,000 miles of happy togetherness. She concluded with a post script about her twin sister having a 1963 ragtop Beetle.
