Photographs of the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek (Part 6) - Poon Hill

 

One of the highlights of the Annapurna Sanctuary trek is the climb up Poon Hill (3210 metres), where one can have incredible panoramic views of the Annapurna Range, Dhaulagiri Range and the Kali Gandaki Gorge (deepest gorge in the world).

The climb starts from the town of Ghorephani very early in the morning before sunrise. Climbing in the dark, one can reach Poon Hill in about 1 to 1.5 hours.

The left photograph is taken at the top of the hill with the Dhaulagiri Range and Kali Gandaki Gorge at the background. Below are more photographs of my Poon Hill trip .....

Last but not least, the left photograph is a close-up view of the peak of Dhaulagiri I (8172 metres), which is the 7th highest mountain in the world.
