Great match! Chen Xinhua was up 17 - 13 in the 3rd, but lost it at 19. At 20-13 in the 5th, Xinhua showed some unbelievable play as he started throwing lobs, jumping over the bariers, into the seats, missing the ball when he fell into the arms of Mr.Arthur Gilbert. First upset of the day.
Lindh - Cheng

Lindh was quicker, playing more aggressively, and finally pulling out this even match.

Saive had too much power for Khoa to handle.
Waldner - Butler

Butler played better than he did in his first match, but not good enough to beat the great one.
Kim - P.Saive

Philippe Saive knew what to do with his opponent: he kept going to Kim Taek Soo's backhand. That strategy seemed to work for a while. In the 3rd game at 17-18, the umpire awarded a point to Saive because Kim failed to toss the ball 6". Kim was upset by this and the umpire gave him a warning for obusing equipment (racket). Kim lost the concentration and the game. In the fourth and fifth games, the spectators could see why Kim is #5 in the world.

For Primorac, it was the first match of the day. He missed too much in the first game, but had no problem since.

Both players already secured the place in the quaterfinals, and had a great time on the court, showing us some fantastic exhibition elements. Both players wanted to win the fifth game, but Grubba was unstoppable today. The crowd went wild at the end of this match. Now Grubba gets #1 seed for day two.

Waldner was playing just good enough to win this match.

No chance for great chopper Xinhua Chen, Kim Taek Soo's forhand is scary! Some great exhibition play from both players at the end of the match!

Philippe played very smart and very well. He avoided open loop exchange and did not let Primorac to attack. Primorac, on the other hand, was like a big train that needed time to get up to speed. Then he was unstoppable.

What a match! Waldner had a great chance to win the match in the 4th game, but Saive came back, then got ahead at the end of the fifth.

Primorac is so big and powerful on both sides, it must be scary for his opponents!

THE BEST MATCH OF THE DAY!!! Andrzej Grubba called this match "from the 21st Century". All five games were so close, the match went on for over an hour.

Primorac was flawless and Kim was a bit tired from the previous match, an hour break wasn't enough for him. Zoran becomes the first winner of the Gilbert Cup and sprayed the audience with champaigne.
