The Questions

There were several plot issues in the film X-Files film, "Fight the Future"that didn't make sense to me.

  1. The Syndicate specifically stated they wanted to infect Scully with the virus to weaken Mulder (oh no, not *that* again..)...but how did they know....
    1. That ONE bee would happen to remain attached to Scully?
    2. That it wouldn't sting Mulder?
    3. That it wouldn't sting anyone else that was around M&S...only Scully.
    4. When and where it would Sting her? (they were well prepared and ready, diverting Mulder's phone from 911 and their own ambulance standing by)
  2. Why are they keeping such detailed records and files of so many people? (Cataloguing and tagging them with small pox vaccinations)
  3. Well Manicured Man..called the vaccine "weak", based on the results they received when they tested it on the Uniblonder, but when Scully was injected in the ship...the reaction was rapid, immediate and pronounced.

The Answers?

Well, I've have a possible answer to all the above questions.

The (Remission) Chip at the back of Scully's neck.

  1. It wasn't a coincidence that the bee stayed close to the back of Scully's neck..and when it did sting, apparently stung her there. One of the problem's with using Bee's as a delivery system for the Oilien virus is the fact that it would take decades to go around the world. I mean, those were supposed "Africanized Honey Bee's". Those are the same type as the infamous "Killer Bee's" of South America that have been slowly migrating their way north since the 70's. They finally reached California in the 90's after they figured out how to cross the Colorado River. Also, a virus delivery system like that would be totally random and unreliable....or would it?

This is where the chips come in. We've always sort of assumed that their purpose was to tag and track the human's they were inserted into...curing cancer seems to be a welcome side-effect...but what if their purpose was as a homing beacon for the bee's? A method for them to find and sting exactly the right people at exactly the right time?

    This would explain much.

  2. Apparently not everyone in the world is to be infected with the virus...(If everyone where infected, then the human race would end...and the vicious-green alien wouldn't have anymore hosts)...or possibly it's not the same strain of the virus, as we've seen three different version so far. The version that acts as a medium for an alien intelligence and allows it to control it's host (Piper Maru)...the version that just sort of paralyses it's victims...(Tunguska, Terma)...and the movie version that does the Alien chest burster bit.

The records in Strughold 's Mining Facility (from "Paper Clip")and the Social Security offices are there to find and track specific humans with gene sequences which are favorable to a particular strain of the virus. The preferred "role" in the project is seledcted, then these people are abducted and implanted with a appropriate chip. Some their genetic material is used to diversify the clone/hybrid population...but the main purpose of these people is to be virus recipients. This is why the complete destruction of their bodies in (Patient X/The Red and the Black) was so damaging to the project.

  3. As far as I know, Scully is the first person to be injected with the vaccine...who had a chip implanted. (Mulder and Maria were injected - I know Mulder doesn't have a chip --- and I doubt Maria does) This and the fact that it was a slightly different strain than the version that infected Maria...(and Mulder in Tunguska) may be why the vaccine worked so quickly on Scully in Antarctica. It also means - since it's a vaccine - that each of these people are now permanently immune to the effects of the black oil. (I assume that Krychek had himself injected even though he didn't have an arm ...between Terma and Patient X. This also explains much of the biological weapons research that has been going on via the Syndicate. They had been looking for an antidote to the oil themselves (as indicated in Tunguska/Terma) as well as testing it's effects and effectiveness, trying to develop a soldier...a weapon who would be immune (like the person in the box car in Nisei/731 who was exposed to the oil from the recovered craft and then quaranteened, as well as those from Anasazi)

There you have it...staring us X-Philes in the back of the neck all this time...
