On a more personal note, I would like to tell you about my husband and his friend's experience in Sunshine. David and his friend were out shooting in Sunshine. They were hiking around Sunshine canyon when they heard something. There was movement in the bushes and it looked like something big was coming twards them. All of a sudden a big rock was thrown from the hill twards David's friend. Luckily David saw it and yelled. His friend turned and shot at the rock which diverted it from hitting him directly in the head killing him. Both of them a little shaken walked up the hill to see what it was. What they had seen is pure movement in the bushes with no one there. No animal tracks, nothing. David actually saw something pick up the rock and throw it. This was also during the daytime. It gives a new meaning to Ghost Town. In Sunshine there were more deaths than any other town in Utah. |

Opher is still a thriving small town with a population of 25. Minnie at the Opher Gofer has goodies and such at the shop as well as some great pictures of the old miners and historical mines in the area. The town still has a Town Hall and some other sites that will amaze you directly inside the town. There are some homes where the people who live there still mine. There are some great campsites too and a little stream that makes this a beautiful place to visit. If you go hiking then you might see some of the old mills, homes, and mines that still exsist. |
