Right now in Utah they are passing a law that is Unconstitutional and is against the Privacy Act. The government wants to be able to get into your confidential medical files. Right now Utah lawmakers are trying to pass a law that makes it impossible for anyone who has suffered any sort of depression to own or buy a hand gun or rifle. Anyone who has seen, or has been seen, by a Therapist; or has been on any antidepression medication it is now illeagle to own or buy a gun. I have no problem if they specify dangerously disturbed individuals cannot own a firearm. But people who have suffered mild depression, who have been cured of depression, or have not commited an act of violence twards another individual should have the right to their privacy. Unless they commit a crime there is no reason that they should not own or carry a gun. Crimminals should have harsher punishments not innocent individuals. The law passed, if passed Federally, would not alow over half the population of the United States to own or carry a firearm. The Privacy Act is an important part of freedom as well as the right to bear arms. Ever individual in this country should have a right to have confidential medical records and keep them out of the government's hands. This is another way folks, that our government is becoming a force that is no longer a Democracy. We have rights that are being taken advatage of by our government. Unless we fight for them we will continue to have them taken away until we have no freedoms at all. I ask you to call Mike Levitt here in Utah and ask him to veto this law here in Utah. If you help us fight it will be harder for other states to take advantage of your rights. Support is needed to keep the Privacy Act and to preserve the Amendments so that we can have the freedoms that make this country great. Many of you may think that I am for violence by protecting gun rights and the right to privacy. But I am not. I am trying to save the freedoms we have in this country. These are only two freedoms they are attacking. If we do not preserve them, then the next right may be your freedom of speach and your right to the persuit of happiness. I want the goverment to do its job by staying out of my home and prosecuting the crimminals by giving them the harsh justice they deserve. Remember that who you vote for matters and only you can make a difference. |
