Eddie,
These two companies have different goals for designing their amps.
RF's goal is to make amps that put out lots of power. Their amps are
almost always underated, the 100ix is no exception. SS's goal is make an
amp that's very musical. They are better at different things and his is
an example of the tradeoffs designers have to make. Since you are using
this amp to power a pair of subs, I would suggest the RF. With subs,
more power is a better choice than accuracy. Not that the RF isn't
accurate, just less so than the SS and I don't mean to say SS's are not
powerful, just less so thatn the RF. If you were using this amp to run
midbass, midranges and tweets, I'd recommend the SS.

When you look at the spec's for these amps you will notice that the
RF amp is only rated to 2ohms while bridged. This is another example of
the underating sceme RF uses and in this case that spec is more of a
suggestion. Many, many people on this group have run their RF's long and
hard at a 1ohm bridged load without any problems. Most of the stress of
this is placed on the amps power supply, but these are tough amps that
can take the punishment. SS's are rated to take this load in their "high
current" mode, but you will lose power because SS's aren't really what we
consider high current amps and aren't optimized to run at low impedences.

Overall you will benifit most from the RF and considering the above,
it's almost a perfect amp for your setup.

I don't know if you've hooked up those Orions yet, but I think you
will be pleased. I have a pair of the DVC XTR 10's and I love them.
Even though their only getting 100W!

Hope this helps,
Victor Albert
