William Shakespeare was born in April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. On November 28, 1582, William married Anne Hathaway. Their first child was named Susanna. Their other children were born two years later. Twins Hamnet and Judith. William Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616.

The well-known theatre in London, that his productions were performed, is the Globe Theatre. In 1613, it caught on fire during a production of Henry VIII. Many U.S. cities host Shakespeare festivals every year. Cities like Columbus, Ohio, Long Beach, California, Montgomery, Alabama, and Austin, Texas. Even Ashland, Oregon where the infamous "Shakespeare Camp" was hosted.

The Folger Shakespeare Library is holding Shakespearean plays like Twelfth Night, Othello, and Macbeth this season. In the Shakespeare Ouarterly published by the Folger, the Summer 1998 edition, "Fearful Simile: Stealing the Breech in Shakespeare's Chronicle Plays," was authored by Kathryn Schwarz.

Some performances of Shakespeare's work can be seen @ The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C. which is performing Romeo & Juliet, & The Royal Shakespeare Company performing Hamlet this 2001-2002 season.

There are many critics of William Shakespeare. One society believes there is another author of William Shakespeare's work. The Shakespeare Oxford Society's purpose is to "document & establish Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, unviersally recognized author of the William Shakespeare works."

Modern directors enjoy Shakespeare enough to make movies of him and his work. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun Times, gave the modern day movie "Shakespeare in Love" 4 stars.

The first shakespearean play performed was Julius Caesar on September 21, 1599. Macbeth was first staged....The word blood is used 23 times in the play Macbeth.

William Shakespeare made over one hundred love sonnets. The first line of Sonnet 39 is "Oh, how thy worth with manners may I sing, when thou art all the better part of me?"

Some interesting facts about William Shakespeare found while researching were that he was eight years younger than his wife, he left his wife his "second best bed" in his will. He named his twins after two family friends Hamnet and Judith Sadler, and Shakespeare died in the same month of his birth @ the age of 52.
