CCP CAN HELP DIAGNOSE RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
Sometimes it is difficult to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis. In 15% of cases the RF (rheumatoid factor) test is negative. This other antibody, CCP (citrulline protein) can be tested. It shows up in most cases of early RA (rheumatoid arthritis) when the RF might still be negative.
Some people with RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS (called RA) test negative for RF. In fact, it happens in about 15% of RA patients
Having a positive CCP test does not mean you have RA.
Having a negative CCP test does not mean you do not have RA.
