Weather Extension

A Desktop Toy for Accessing Weather Underground Services

and providing an interface between HAL and WU data

What: A HALi application that provides Weather eXtensions to HAL. It also runs on the desktop as a graphic weather application with or without HAL.

Capabilities: Retrieves weather information from Weather Underground by city, by zipcode or by WU Station name. Sets and clears HAL flags matching weather conditions (e.g. Weather Clear, Weather Rain, Weather Snow) so that HAL can make decisions based on these conditions. Further, sets and clears flags that denote when temperature and wind speed exceed pre-defined thresholds, so that HAL knows to take actions (e.g. Turn on a fan when hot, a heater when cold, disable irrigation when windy)

In addition, it produces several small text files that HAL can speak in response to rules and macros. e.g. create a macro to respond to the question \"What is the Outside Temperature?\"

Finally, it uses the HALi Weather Station interface to pass weather parameters into HAL so that the native HAL weather interface sees the same data. This requires a beta version of HAL yet to be released, as that functionality is not yet supported in HAL.

Further, it runs stand-alone with or without HAL being present.  Thus you do not need HAL to make use of the program.  But it uses the HALi ActiveX controls, if available, to update HAL as to the current weather.
