Blasts rock churches in Central Sulawesi
Simultaneous explosions rocked three churches in the capital of Indonesia's volatile
eastern Central Sulawesi province just as the New Year began.
Antara news agency quotes witnesses saying that men on motorbikes hurled the
explosive devices that injured one person and shattered windows at two churches.
A fourth blast at another church in Palu seriously injured two policeman as they tried
to defuse the explosive.
Churchgoers had alerted police to a suspicious looking package as a New Year's Day
mass was about to start.
The incidents occurred less than two weeks after a peace deal was struck by warring
Christians and Muslims from an area around Poso, a town 100km from Palu.
More than 1,000 people have been killed in three years of clashes around Poso.
