LASKAR JIHAD IS THE INDONESIAN AL QAEDA! (02)

In addition, a Qaeda group carried out surveillance of the American Embassy here, in
late 2000, and last summer a group came from Yemen to blow up the embassy in
downtown Jakarta, a senior American official said. The men fled before they could be
arrested, either because of inept work by the authorities, or possibly because they
were tipped off by powerful sympathizers within the Indonesian military, he said.
ASSOCIATED PRESS; WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23, 2002 2:06 PM ET
In August, the presence of the suspected terrorists caused a partial closure of the
U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, although diplomats refused to identify the threat at the
time. A hand drawn sketch of the building allegedly in their possession ``fit the
pattern'' of attacks on U.S. missions in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, the U.S. official
said. But Indonesian authorities, ``took so much time to establish a wiretap, then
brought in the local police and created so much noise,'' that this alerted the terrorists
and local collaborators and gave them time to flee, he said.
JOSHUA:
What would be a better way for Indonesia's government to make the world believes
that there is not a single international terrorism organization such as Al Qaeda in this
country? Saying, "We have no evidence about it", or "We would have found it and
detain it"? In fact, it is "We have no evidence about it" that is regularly said by some
government officials and Police officers. The above paragraphs reveals that Indonesia's
government had a chance to say "We would have found it and detain it", but was
reluctant to take it. Why is it so? We have to realize that the present government is
not a very sturdy one, supported by a coalition of parties. The government's stance
toward such militia group like "laskar jihad" is very much dependent on what "laskar
jihad" is to Islamic based parties like the United Development Party (PPP) and the
Crescent Star Party (PBB). Since these parties utilize "laskar jihad" for their political
purposes, Indonesia's government would not be able to do much about it. Any effort
from government to restrict the movement of "laskar jihad" would arouse a massive
reaction from manipulated Moslems. Islamic based parties like PPP and PBB, some
Islamic radical organizations such as the Islam Defender Forum (FPI), and even the
Ulema Council (MUI), would provoke Moslems saying "government is demolishing
Islam!" or "government is insulting Islam faith!" The presence of "laskar jihad" at the
vice president's palace revealed the real situation that "laskar jihad" achieves a full
support from vice president of Indonesia, Hamzah Haz. Let's take a look a another
reason behind government's attitude towards "laskar jihad".
ASSOCIATED PRESS; WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23, 2002 2:06 PM ET
Before the embassy plot was revealed, an Indonesian general told The Associated
Press that Laskar Jihad was financed with money embezzled from the army's main
warfighting element. The officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said an audit
revealed a $20 million deficit in the unit's budget. Western intelligence sources
confirmed that $9.3 million of those funds were used to finance Laskar Jihad. Its
commander, Jafar Umar Thalib is a religious funda-mentalist who spearheaded the war
against the Christians in Maluku.
JOSHUA:
This paragraph contains answers to some important questions on the involvement of
military in the conflict in Maluku. Why were there so many military uniforms spotted
under the famous 'white robe' of "laskar jihad"? Why has never any deserted military
and police personnel arrested for taking part in the conflict been taken to court of
justice? How could "laskar jihad" possess the restricted military materials such
grenades, mortars and rockets with PINDAD mark and serial number on them?
(PINDAD is an army's special manufacturer of military things). "laskar jihad" has been
employed by military to re-establish military domination over the socio-political life of
the country, known as double-function of military, which is gradually reduced to form a
full civilian government. The government which rely on the military to retain the unity of
the nation (by force) does not have a control over the military. The current cabinet of
Megawati is filled with some of the retired army generals who hold important positions
such as the Minster of Domestic Affairs and the Coordinating Minister of Political and
Security Affairs. A number of retired generals have now involved in the political affairs
by becoming members of the Islamic based - United Development Party (PPP). This
phenomenon has strengthened our conclusion that Indonesia's government would
never be able to lay its hand on "laskar jihad", which is supported by the military -
radical Moslem military and police generals.
Last but not least, another factor that prevents the government to take any action
against "laskar jihas" is as follows.
ASSOCIATED PRESS; WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23, 2002 2:06 PM ET
The five men, who arrived from Yemen, had based themselves at a religious institution
run by Arab Indonesians in eastern Java, the U.S. official said.
JOSHUA:
Looking at several Islamic radical organizations, we would find out that most their
leaders are of Arab ancestry, like Jaf'ar Umar Thalib and Riziek Shihab of FPI. Many
years ago in the town of Ambon, a man who is of Arab of ancestry named Ali
Alhabsyi, warned us(Christians) that in coming 20 to 30 years, Arab would have a
control over Indonesia. One of his son, Husain Alhabsyi, is now became an influence
religious leader of a millions member - Islamic radical organization.

Antisipasi Laskar Pembela Gus Dur JIM Jadi Laskar Tandingan
(kekacauan). Laskar yang diberi nama Jundullah Ikhwanul Muslimin (JIM) ini,
dipersiapkan sejak dua tahun lalu.
merahasiakan kemampuan kita, jika ingin memenangkan peperangan," kilahnya.
JOSHUA:
Ali Alhabshi's prediction is about to become a reality now. The control of Arabs over
Indonesia is now quite significant, which is achieved by means of religion, Islam. It is
interesting to learn that many decent Moslems in Indonesia would regard any Arabs
or Arab - Indonesian as far more superior than any local Moslem. Any Moslem from
Middle East would be warmly welcome by local Moslems, even if they are in fact a
group of terrorists. They could easily manipulate local Moslems asserting that they
are defending their faith. Any action against these terrorists would be considered as
offending the faith of Islam. It looks like "laskar jihad" is well protected from all
direction. Doesn't it?
What does this kind of attitude of Indonesia's government have to do with the
connection between "laskar jihad" and Al Qaeda? It's been illuminated that "laskar
jihad' is 'untouchable' by Indonesia's government. If what Jaf'ar asserted is true, that
"laskar jihad" has no connection with Al Qaeda, and he would support any
government efforts to clamp down on Al Qaeda, then there is absolutely no reason for
Indonesia's government to be so unwilling to confront Al Qaeda's movements in the
country. In the same manner, Jaf'ar, who is against Al Qaeda's philosophy would
declare a war against Al Qaeda in supporting Indonesia's government. This, in turn,
would calm down many radical Moslems, or even achieve sympathetic reactions from
them. In fact, Indonesian government's hesitations confirm that there is a close bond
between "laskar jihad" and Al Qaeda. Bringing Al Qaeda down would drag "lasakr
jihad" along with it. This really scares Indonesia's government. As a result, we would
hear a series of denials from the government like the ones below.
THE NEW YORK TIMES; WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23, 2002
On Monday, the Indonesian foreign minister, Hassan Wirajuda, said the government
did not have any evidence that Muslim organizations here were part of an international
terrorist network.
ASSOCIATED PRESS; WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23, 2002 2:06 PM ET
Indonesia's top security minister Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono declined to comment
on the allegations Wednesday, but said law enforcement agencies were monitoring
potential terrorists. Police chief Gen. Da'i Susi;o said he had not received reports of
the alleged plot.
JOSHUA:
Government did not have any evidence because it did not even try to get one. What
evidence can it get by letting the international terrorists go away, like it did to those
five men from Yemen? He may have forgotten a Malaysian-KMM member who blew up
St. Anne Church and Atrium Plaza in Jakarta last year. This man and his friends were
previously in Maluku to help "laskat jihad" to fight Christians. Inspite of Hassan
Wirajuda's denial and Da'i Bachtiar's statements of having no reports on the
international terrorism activities, the police is dealing with another problem concerning
the possibility of the international terrorist network in Indonesia.
JAKARTA POST, 2002-01-23
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Saleh Saaf said the police had sent a
summons to Abu Bakar Ba'asyir to question him on Thursday at the National Police
Headquarters. "We have summoned Abu Bakar Ba'asyir for questioning on Thursday
at 10 a.m. We want to clarify the accusations that he is linked to Kumpulan Mujahidin
Malaysia (KMM) militants and possibly even al-Qaeda," Saleh told The Jakarta Post.
He added that police did not currently have any evidence to indicate that Ba'asyir had
any links to the al-Qaeda network.
JOSHUA:
Even so, we are again, presented with the same ridiculous words, "we have no
evidence"! This should not be of any surprise since The Ulema Council (MUI) had
stepped into the arena and warned the police to be extremely careful in interrogating
Ba'asyir for he is a respected Ulema. Police would surely feel relieved that the
statement "we have no evidence" would satisfy the MUI, and they are well aware that
anything less than that would caused them to be accused of having insulted the faith
of Islam. There would not be an evidence, still. Let's look at another drama!
JAKARTA POST, 2002-01-23
Da'i said the man is from Indonesia and his father is a member of the legislative
council in Madiun, East Java representing the Crescent Star Party. Confirming Da'i's
statement, Saleh said al-Ghozi carries many fake passports, from, among other
places, Indonesia and the Philippines, and has at least five aliases. Previously Saleh
said al-Ghozi was a Canadian citizen.
JAKARTA POST, 2002-01-23
We must find out exactly what citizenship he carries."
JOSHUA:
An Indonesian born, Saleh Said al-Ghozi, was first claimed to be Canadian whose
father is a member of the Islamic based Crescent Star Party in Madiun, East Java.
This national Police Chief, Da'i Bachtiar then said that "he has to be sure on what
citizenship Al-Ghosi is carrying". What makes this first man in the Police force acting
like a clown? The answer is simple, "fear of evidence"! How can we expect that a
faithful supporter of "laskar jihad", who had assisted them to prepare their infiltration to
Maluku in East Java, would come with an evidence on Al Qaeda? He will be fooling
around with the 'citizenship matter' until the case would have to be abandoned and
forgotten, for there's no hard evidence!
This might be our last discussion on the crooked and shameful Indonesia's
government and its stance toward "laskar jihad", and let's go back to Jaf'ar Umar
Thalib.
THE JAKARTA POST, JANUARY 24, 2002
Ja'far also contended that the linking of his group with the international network
responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon was
unjustifiable. "We are just a traditional group. We have nothing but prayers and our
zeal. There's no way that we would have the capability of undertaking such expensive
actions," he said.
JOSHUA:
The white robe is a traditional thing, the personnel and the armour are absolutely not.
A traditional civilian militia is not trained by some veterans from Bosnian and Afghan
wars to launch a mortar. A traditional group with prayers and zeal would not be
enough to turn a Mobile Brigade's Base upside down, shot its commander to death
and burglarise its arsenal. Their prayers and zeal are not even sufficient to prevent
them for telling lies. Look at this!
TEMPO MAGAZINE, NO. 04/II/OCTOBER 2-8, 2001
In Afghanistan Djafar initially joined the As Sayaf faction and later the Djamilurrahman
faction which operated in Kunar near the Khyber Pass. Syafruddin, an associate,
recalled that Djafar used to carry an AK-47 assault rifle. He was also adept at
operating Soviet-made RPG launchers and bazookas against Russian tanks
JOSHUA:
Jaf'ar Umar Thalib was surely not a traditional Mujahidin fighter riding a horse with a
piece of curved sword in his hand, and so is his "laskar jihad"!
DEWAN PIMPINAN PUSAT FORUM KOMUNIKASI AHLUS SUNNAH WAL JAMAAH
Mujahidian Ambon Gelar Latihan Gabungan;
sasaran. Baik dilakukan secara perorangan maupun secara beregu.
JOSHUA:
The "laskar jihad" or the "mujahidin" or in whatever names they might be called, were
taught to master all manoeuvres in combat, like crawling, slipping, shooting the
targets, etc. by the veterans from like Afghan, Moro, and Bosnian wars. They are
surely not traditional fighters and Jaf'ar Umar Thalib was telling lies.
THE JAKARTA POST, JANUARY 24, 2002
Ja'far also said that although his group was strongly against the U.S. government, the
group was not against Americans. "It's simply not right. Muslims are not allowed to
display hatred against a particular ethnic group. What we are allowed to do is to
express our rejection of a government's political policy," he said.
JOSHUA:
If the Jakarta Post's reporter is critical, she would have found out, 'what makes the US
government differ from Americans' to Jaf'ar. Was he against the US government for
attacking Taliban regime, or for freeing Afghanistan men from having to grow beard
and allowing their women to have education and jobs? This kind of questions will
freeze him for he did not have any logical reasons to be against the US government
other than to show his loyalty to the Taliban regime and its associate group of Al
Qaeda. Jaf'ar should be asked to explain the different between 'to hate' and 'to display
hatred' and how they can be related to his many 'dakwah' (preaching) saying,
'Christians are the worst enemy of Allah and therefore become the worst enemy of
Moslems'. 'Christians are the subject to be eliminated if Moslems want to please
Allah!' How can he display the hatred of Allah toward Christians and ask Moslems not
to do so while they are urged to please Allah?
THE NEW YORK TIMES, OCTOBER 4, 2001
The leader of the Laskar Jihad, Jaffar Umar Thalib, has threatened to attack
Americans and to try to drive Mrs. Megawati from office.
JOSHUA:
This is exactly what Jaf'ar was intended to do to all Westerners and not just
Americans. His attitude toward Americans is crystal clear.

Jihad (Happy condolences to the US! Moslems should celebrate this as a payback to
a greater terrorism country in the world, America, JL)
JOSHUA:
Jaf'ar hates Americans as well as other Westerners his bone and this attitude is very
much the same with that of Osama bin Laden. They would always regard Americans
and Westerners as a bunch of Christians who hate Moslems and are ready to destroy
Islam, and by this principle they would do anything to harm the enemies of Allah and
be justified for doing so.
BIN LADEN SAYS U.S. 'FULL OF FEAR'
Story Filed: Sunday, October 07, 2001 5:29 PM EDT
CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- Osama bin Laden praised God for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks
and swore America will never ``dream of security'' until ``the infidels' armies leave the
land of Muhammad,'' in a videotaped statement aired after the strike launched Sunday
by the United States and Britain against Afghanistan.
JOSHUA:
This would serve as a prove that Osama bin Laden was behind the September 11
attack on WTC and Pentagon buildings, for he could never swear on behalf of Allah for
what Allah is going to do. It is amusing, that both Osama bin Laden and Jaf'ar Umar
Thalib praise Allah for the September 11 incident and claimed that it was Allah's work!
But. Jaf'ar said that he did not have any respect for Osama bin Laden, and……
LOS ANGELES TIMES, SEPTEMBER 23, 2001
Ja'far said it is possible Bin Laden was behind the attacks on New York and the
Pentagon because they required the kind of financial backing he could have provided.
JOSHUA:
Jaf'ar denied his former statement that bin Laden didn't have anything to do with the
September 11 tragedy, and the US accusation was merely a political move to
discredit Islam. Feeling secure that he would never be related to Al Qaeda, Jaf'ar
started to turn around against Osama bin Laden, just like he did to the international
network of Mujahidin.
There is so much to discuss about Jaf'ar dishonesties in trying to save his own neck
by blaming others. Let us conclude our talk about Jaf'ar Umar Thalib with the following
quote.
LOS ANGELES TIMES, SEPTEMBER 23, 2001
Bin Laden fell under the influence of a "bad sect" that believes in using suicide
bombers and opposing legitimate Islamic governments, Ja'far said.
JOSHUA:
Osama bin Laden, despite Jaf'ar allegation, was welcome by the Taliban regime who
was fully respected by Jaffar Umar Thalib as a true Islamic leaders. This facts
invalidate Jaf'ar's theory about Osama bin Laden being influenced by a bad Islamic
sect or adopting 'khwarij' which is unrecognised in Islamic teachings. Jaf'ar Umar
Thalib and Osama bin Laden are very much alike that they utilize terrorisms to
achieve their purposes. In conclusion, the Taliban, Al Qaeda and "laskar jihad" are
either 'bad Islamic sects' or 'true ones'. They are all the same! Jaf'ar Umar Thalib is
the 'Osama bin Laden' of Indonesia, and "laskar jihad" is the "Al Qaeda of Indonesia"!
If they are to succeed in r eaching their goals then one day, they will be just as bad
as Taliban regime.
Just be reminded that we have not talked about all of the potential radical Islamic
militias in Indonesia. There are many 'laskar that' and 'laskar this' all around the
country, and they are growing fast, due to the "dirty political games" the government
is playing. See what just occurred in Mauku.
ASSOCIATED PRESS; WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23, 2002 2:06 PM ET
Indonesia's top security minister Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono declined to comment
on the allegations Wednesday, but said law enforcement agencies were monitoring
potential terrorists. Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar said he had not received reports of
the alleged plot.
JOSHUA:
What the law enforcement agencies are doing is to monitor the potential terrorists in
the country and to report their findings to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who would
eager to throw them in to an ice box and locked them there. Thus, the national police
chief, who was assisting "laskar jihad" in East Java to infiltrate Maluku, would always
say, "There are no such reports", or "We have not received any reports"! And what
were they just doing in Maluku?
ANTARA; 2002-01-27
YUDHOYONO REFUSES TO CLARIFY RMS, JIHAD LEGION ROLES IN MALUKU
09:37:42 PM - Ambon. Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Soesilo
Bambang Yudhoyono here Saturday was unwilling to clarify the possible involvement
of the separatist Republic of South Maluku (RMS) and Jihad Legion in the communal
conflict in Maluku since January 19, 1999. `I don`t want to give a hasty response to
the request of the two communities (Muslims and Christians) in Maluku to clarify the
possible involvement of the separatist RMS and the Jihad Legion,` the minister said.
JOSHUA:
They were preparing a space for "laskar jihad" in Maluku. They knew so well that the
RMS comprised both Christians and Moslems of Maluku and if it was involved in the
conflict then what RMS would do exactly was to help Christians and Moslems to get
rid of "laskar jihad" and to free themselves from the crooked government of Indonesia.
RMS would never deceive its inner self by creating a conflict among its own people.
RMS can be proudly declaring that it is not like Indonesia's government who creates
disputes, conflicts, and killings among its own people to retain its political power in
the country. Against his habit, Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono did not say "I have no
such evidence, yet" but he refused to comment on that. The fact is "he has no hard
evidence of the involvement of the RMS in the conflict in Maluku. If he say he has,
then he would mention "Suaidi Marasabessy" and "Al Fatah gang" for illegally
possessing hundreds of RSM flags. So, he refused to give a 'hasty response' on the
issue of RMS, but gives 'a nasty response' instead, to uplift his beloved associates
known as "laskar jihad" in Maluku.
ANTARA; 2002-01-29
JIHAD LEGION INVITED TO JOIN MEETING FOR MALUKU
:55:16 PM Ambon, Maluku - Representatives of the Jihad (Holy War) Legion have
been invited to join the `Meeting for Maluku` to seek a peaceful solution to the
communal conflicts in the eastern Indonesian province, which have raged on and off
since Jan 19, 1999. `The involvement of the Jihad Legion was decided in a meeting
with a central government team headed by Coordinating Minister for Political and
Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Ambon on Jan 25-26,` Maluku
Moslem leader, Thamrin Ely, said here Tuesday.
JOSHUA:
Many would regarded Joshua Latupatti as a person who has just too much of
suspicions about "laskar jihad", but what he was so worried about "who are going to
sit at the table and talk about peace in Maluku", is now evident. Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono and his hypocritical team have humiliated the traditional life of the people
of Maluku, and dishonour Maluku by inviting "laskar jihad" to the table. He has
justified all the violence, robberies, destruction and taking over villages, rapes, forced
circumcisions, murderers, spreading lies and terrors done by "laskar jihad" and
prepared a legal certificate for the bastards to occupy Maluku.
If both the RMS or FKM (Maluku Sovereign Forum) and this illegal and inhuman
"laskar jihad" are issued to be involved in the conflict, on what ground did this liar and
lunatic Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono invite "laskar jihad" only? The FKM was banned
by the provincial government but "laskar jihad" has not touched by the law. The FKM
never slaughtered a single goat and robed any camel, but has been regarded as
criminals while the greedy, filthy and bloody "laskar jihad" became the valuable
associate to Indonesia's government. What a disgusting government we have here?
The unclean faces of "laskar jihad" should not be at the same table with Malukan
Christians and Moslems on the first place, and all people of Maluku and FKM should
do something about this or be regretful for the rest of their lives.
In fact, there shouldn't be any peace in Maluku that brings its people, Christians and
Moslems together. They shouldn't get any stronger for they would start talking about
the "illegal act by Indonesia's government against Maluku, in 1950" to which this
disgusting government does not have any single thing to defend its dirty self. Or do
you, Susilo Bambang Youhoyono? What about you "Da'i Bachtiar", and you "Hamzah
Haz? Do you all have any tiny part in your head or in your heart that is clean? No, you
don't! Therefore, "laskar jihad" is the only way to burry the 'sins' of Indonesia, with a
bunch of new ones smelling like Osama bin Laden's well know 'vow' in the name of
Allah, to keep Maluku suffers in silence. The Indonesia's corrupted government is
deadly terrified by th e truths of RMS, that Al Qaeda has to be invited and to be
employed by the disgraceful government.
