Grenade explosion in Jakarta, bombs in Palu
JAKARTA (JP): A grenade exploded in front of the Ayam Bulungan restaurant in
South Jakarta at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, while bombs exploded in four churches in
Palu, capital of Central Sulawesi, on late Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
One person, identified as Hasbullah, 25 years old, died after the grenade explosion in
Jakarta, while the bomb explosions in Palu injured two policemen and damaged the
churches, Antara reported.
Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Makbul Padmanagara confirmed the explosion in
Bulungan was a grenade.
"Yes, it was a grenade. But we have yet to identify whether it was homemade or a
factory-made one," Makbul said as quoted by El-Shinta radio station.
Meanwhile, the two victims in the explosions in Palu were members of the police's
bomb squad who were trying to defuse the bombs.
