Imagine your brain as a cave filled with candles to light the rooms. Now imagine a swift wind snuffing out the flames one by one, yeilding only darkness and emptiness. This is what Alzheimer's disease does. It extinguishes the candles so the stream of memories, thoughts, and innovations slow, and in time, ceases to be. So far there is no way of blocking out the wind, no way to relight the wicks. Alzheimer's disease befalls older folks. It is a brain disorder that hinders and sometimes destroys the victim's memory, judgement, and ability to eat, dress, and bathe. The best place for someone with these conditions is a nursing home like the one pictured below.
