April 19, 1995: Pam Hawkins, Sympathizer

First Draft!!! Partial transcript only!

Ron Engelman: I'm glad you all stuck around. It's- I know, we, we wanted this to go a lot quicker. Unfortunately, uh, Bo Gritz is somewhere en route. From downtown Waco. He had to do his program this morning from his hotel room in Waco, because of the electricity that was available to them. He wasn't able to do his program from out here. He didn't get off the air until eleven o'clock. And, uh, we thought he'd be here by now, unfortunately he isn't. My name is Ron Engelman, and, uh, this afternoon, what we have scheduled is, uh, Pam Hawkins, will, uh, do a number she's recorded. And that will be followed by Dr. Phil Arnold- from the Reunion Institute- who, I had on my radio program, when I was in Dallas. And he became somewhat involved with the FBI in trying to negotiate, a settlement, or help the FBI understand what it was the Branch Davidians were saying and doing. In addition to that, we'll have David Thibodeau. David Thibodeau, as you know, is one of the Branch Davidians that, uh, was inside during the siege- during the attack, during the siege. And came out during the fire, and was arrested. Clive Doyle, another who was inside during the attack, the siege, and the fire, and came out during the fire with both hands badly burned, handcuffed, and with unbelievable infections, because of the handcuffs that were placed on him in the hospital. We also have Dan Powell, with the Northeast Texas Regional Militia who will speak. Bo Gritz, will be here, we're expecting him momentarily, I, I'm a little surprised, that, uh, he isn't here, because being a Green Beret, I thought they were always on time. And, uh, then we'll have, uh, Ralph Turner- and then we'll close, in a not too awful long time. What I want to do is thank you all- I, I know that this has been difficult for a lot of you, a lot of you have had to take vacation days, uh, just to take off from a day of work, have driven a long way to get here. And I want you to know that every one of the Branch Davidians, every one that was involved, with what took place here, two years ago, and 51 days prior to that, are very thankful that you're here, and appreciate you very, very much.

I'd like to begin this afternoon by, uh, once again let me introduce Pam Hawkins. And Pam, has a, a number she'd like to perform.

I, I'm going to say something a little quickly here first. Uh, I've just been informed that Bo Gritz is coming in, coming in the gate. Ron, you might want to be on alert, he's coming in the gate I'm told.

Um, my mouth is very dry. I have a song I want to share, I sang it last year. And, um- (sigh) I said at that time that I was here for two reasons. Number one, the Lord loves justice, and the other reason is that I am a mother. Now I'm here again today. Last year, America was in shock. America was in denial- if you want to look at it psychologically, I think. And they're coming out of it, and they're coming to realize something terrible happened here. And I know a lot of folks are way on down the line, and they want the prisoners out of jail. I do too. But when this first hit me- because I got involved, I want you to know I got involved because I wanted to put a monument out here to warn people against cults. Alright? Because I believed what, what I heard on the media. But I knew, when I turned the television on that day, that I had been told that there was a madman inside there, with a lot of guns and explosives, and a lot of little children. And when I turned that television on, I kneeww that was a, a big mistake. Now I'm not paid fifty, sixty, seventy thousand a year. A person to know these things. And we now know that the FBI did know, and they would not accept the report, of the agents, who told them the truth. It's April 19th again. And more children are dead. Tied in to this? Of course not! Unless someone's trying to make us look bad. But I'll tell you this, on April 19th, about 200, 250 years ago, someone shot a fire, fired a shot, heard round the world. And my prayer is that I'll sing a song heard round the world. And this song, is for all the children, it's the heart cry of a mother, and unfortunately, I have six more children to cry for now. John, I'm all ready. If you are.

(I acquired the lyrics from Pam Hawkins, and I hope to use them to complete this transcript and to post them soon.)

That's all I have to say. [applause]

Ron Engelman: I would have been here on time, but I got blown all the way up to that gate...

NEXT SPEAKER: Phil Arnold
