What is Battle for Naboo?
In Battle for Naboo (BfN) is an arcade/action game published by LucasArts, in the style of the hit game, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. It was co-developed with Factor 5, and is available for both PC and N64. In this excellent game, you take control of over 5 craft in over 15 missions set in the time period of Episode I. Your missions range from search-and-destroy to reconnaissance, and from escort to escape. The game's action takes place on the planet of Naboo, which hosts a dazzling array of different landscapes. Along with the city of Theed and the rolling hills featured in the movie, the game takes us to places that we have never been before, including a long, twisting river, a polar region of the planet, the imposing mountain ranges, a huge lake used as a village by traders and a large volcano! Action also leads the player into the space around Naboo, and one level features a high-speed, high-adrenaline chase through the skyscrapers of Coruscant!

What happens in Battle for Naboo?
The action starts just as the Queen and the Jedi leave the planet. Captain Panaka orders all the security force to leave the capitol city of Theed and create a resistance force to repel the Trade Federation. You play as young Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes, who, in conjunction with his superior officer, Captain Kael, flees the city to the marshland. There, they learn of a smuggler, who they ally with and conduct a series of raids on Trade Federation property. In the duration of these battles, however, it becomes apparent that the Federation are not the only enemy that the Naboo face. All this culminates in the explosive onslaught on the Droid Control Ship, as featured in the movie. After that, three bonus mission feature a raid on a Trade Federation base in an attempt to gain information on new Federation technology, a chase through the skylanes of Coruscant and a mission in which you swap allegiances and take on the role of Darth Maul, in the Sith Infiltrator.

How easy to learn is Battle for Naboo?
BfN is incredibly simple to learn, yet still gives you a reasonable challenge. Completing the standard game isn't too hard, but getting all 18 platinum medals and unlocking every bonus level is a huge challenge! If you've played Rogue Squadron before, then you shouldn't have too much trouble picking the game up, but, even if you are new to this style of game, you'll find it incredibly easy to pick up.

What is a platinum medal?
A platinum medal is the top medal you can get. You will only get one if you fly well, getting almost every kill, near 100% accuracy, the bonus (if there is one), all friendly saves, in other words, fly to the best of, and beyond, your ability.

What are the differences between Battle for Naboo and Rogue Squadron?
In BfN, you also get ground and sea craft, as opposed to solely aircraft, although several aircraft are available. The radar has been updated, with a mark to line the 'wedge' up against, so you know you are going the correct way. The secondary weapons have changed from proton torpedoes, concussion missiles, cluster torps, bombs and tow cables to proton torpedoes, concussion missiles, projectiles, energy bombs and heavy blaster cannons. An upgrade is available to transform the torpedoes into seeker cluster proton torpedoes. A new medal has been added, and one new criteria to the mission stats - remaining lives. A new control has also been added - sharp turn. All in all, it features the best things from Rogue Squadron, but with more!
