I would love to see something here about shin splints. I am currently enrolled in the Broward Fire Academy and am in a great deal of pain when we do do our daily running of 1-2 miles with stairs in between. I dont want these darn shin splints to be the de th of me. I want to finish and was wondering if there was something I could do, such as taping,to get me through the next 5 months of this. Can you help?

My daughter age 20 had a grade 3 concussion at age 3, a grade 3 concussion associated with epidural hematoma resolving without surgery and without sequellae at age 8, and now at age 20 has had a grade 2 concussion when she fell and hit her head on the gro nd (partial amnesia lasting about 24 to 48 hours). I am trying to decide when she should return to sports activities that could put her at risk of head injury. Should she play soccer? Should she be allowed to head the ball? I get conflicting recommenda ions from the local neurosurgeons and neurologists. Where can I get more information? By the way, she is doing very well and is back to normal now.

some guidelines advise removing player for the season after 2 concussions, you advise return to play once symptoms are gone. some list grade 2 as less than 5 minutes of unconsciousness, yours lists grade 2 as no loss of consciousness. how are we to kn w which is best? After a neurologist, a neurosurgeon, and an orthopedist, we have 3 more opinions. I think something needs to be done to have a more uniform guide. we are trying to get our daughter back into soccer after 3 concussions in 5 years. only ne was level 3 by your guide. she has already sat out one year. we think it's ok for her to return to play but want to be sure. it's frustrating.
