Chapter Seven

Trinity

“Hello?” Alyssa asked as she walked into the house.

“Hey! I’m in the living room.” I answered.

Alyssa walked into the room and found me sitting on the couch.

“Look Alyssa, I’m really sorry about what I did today. I know that project is very important to you and what I did was wrong. I always said I’d never be one of those girls who put their boyfriend before their friends and that’s exactly what I did. I’m really sorry.” I said in one breath.

“Whoa…calm down Trin. It’s okay.” Alyssa said.

“So you’re not mad at me? You’re not going to scream and yell and call me a hoe?” I asked.

“No. I know it’s hard for you and Wade to see each other. Besides Justin and I had fun.” She said.

“You did?” I asked in disbelief.

She nodded. I was about to ask what exactly happened, but I was interrupted by shouting.

“What do you mean they cut $5,000! That’s just not possible.” Wade screamed.

“Wade’s here?” Alyssa asked.

“Yeah, we were going to watch a movie, but his cell rang.” I said.

Alyssa was about to say something but Wade stormed in.

“What’s going on sweetie?” I asked getting up.

“The whole second leg of the tour is basically going down the drain. Johnny called an emergency meeting.” Wade said bitterly.

“Oh, well I guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.” I said trying to hide the disappointment in my voice.

“Uh, yeah.” Wade said distractedly. “Where’s my jacket?”

I grabbed his jacket off the rack. “Here you go.”

“Thanks. Okay, bye.” He said leaving the house.

“Bye.” I said after him as I closed the door.

I walked back into the living room.

“Are you okay Trinity?” Alyssa asked.

I shrugged. “I’m fine. Why do you ask?”

“You look kinda sad.” Alyssa said.

“Well.” I started. “Maybe a little.”

“Want to talk about it?” she asked.

“Not really.” I answered.

“Trin.” Alyssa said.

“Okay. I mean when I got into this relationship I knew what it would be like and I was fine with it, but now…I don’t know.” I told her.

“You’re not going to break up with Wade, are you?” Alyssa asked.

I shook my head vigorously. “No. We just to work some things out.”

“I see.” She said.

“So…what happened with you and Justy?” I teased.

Alyssa blushed. “Shut up. Nothing happened. He was very nice and didn’t try to hit on me.”

“Woo-hoo! My little Justin is growing up.” I said wiping a fake tear from my eye.

Alyssa threw a pillow at me. “Ha,ha.”

“Justin and Alyssa sittin’ in a tree.” I started but the phone rang.

“You be quiet.” Alyssa said.

“Whatever.” I replied. “Hello? Hey kiddo. Uh-huh. Yeah, hang on. Alyssa, it’s your boyfriend.”

She stuck out her tongue out at me. “Hello?”

I leaned in to try to listen but Alyssa walked out of the room.

“You’re no fun!” I called after her.

I began flipping channels when my cell phone rang.

“Hello?” I asked.

“Hey baby. It’s me.” Wade said.

“What’s up sweetie?” I asked.

“Sorry about storming out earlier.” He said.

“It’s okay.” I replied.

“No, I got way too worked up and took it out on you.” Wade said.

“Don’t worry about it.” I told him.

“So what are you doing?” he asked.

“Lounging. Alyssa’s on the phone with Justin.” I replied.

Wade laughed. “No, seriously.”

“I am serious.” I said.

“Wow, what happened?” he asked.

“That’s what I’m trying to figure out.” I said through a yawn.

“Tired?” he asked.

“A little bit.” I said “Someone woke me up at 7:00 this morning.”

“Nah.” I said.

“That’s what I thought. You’d better go to bed.” Wade said.

“Okay, good night.” I told him.

“Night, Trin. I love you.” He said.

“I love you too.” I said hanging up the phone.

One week later…

“TRINITY!” Wade shouted as he walked into the house.

“I’ll be down in a second.” I called back.

I heard him running up the stairs into my room.

“Where’s the fire?” I asked as he picked me up and spun me around.

"Wade? Are you okay?” I asked.

He set me back down on the ground and kissed me.

“Wade, what’s going on?” I asked after we broke apart.

“You’re looking at Britney Spears’ new tour director.” He said excitedly.

My face broke into a smile.

“That’s great.” I said giving him a hug. “I’m so proud of you.”

Wade’s grin grew even bigger. “Thanks.”

“So when does all this start?” I asked.

“Well, concept meetings will probably be at the beginning of October.” He said. “But I’ll have to fly out to Los Angeles and audition dancers next week.”

“At Millennium?” I asked.

He nodded. “Yeah, I’m flying out on Tuesday.”

My face dropped. “Tuesday?”

“Yeah, what’s wrong?” he asked.

“Tuesday is our anniversary.” I said. “One year.”

“Oh sweetie, I’m sorry but what can I do?” he asked.

“Fly out on Wednesday.” I suggested.

He shook his head. “This is very important.”

“And I’m not?” I asked.

“That’s not what I meant.” He said.

“No, that’s exactly what you meant. I feel like I always come second to your job.” I said.

“Trinity how can you say that?” he asked.

“Because it’s true.” I mumbled.

“What?” he asked.

“Because it’s true.” I said louder.

Wade looked like I had slapped him. “I can’t believe you think that. You know you mean more to me than anything.”

I crossed my arms over my chest. “So I thought.”

Wade shook his head. “I’m out of here.”

And with that he walked down the stairs and out the front door.

Later that day…

“You answer it.” I shouted to Alyssa over the ringing phone. “It’s probably Justin.”

He had been calling a lot lately.

Alyssa rolled her eyes. “Hello? Hold on.” She said handing me the phone.

“Hello?” I asked hoping it was Wade telling me he was wrong.

“Is this Trinity Alexander?” the person asked.

“Yes.” I replied.

“This is Orlando General. I’m afraid there’s been an accident.” The caller told me.

“A…what?” I choked out.

“Mr. Wade Robson was brought in about ten minutes ago.” She said.

“Wha…what’s wrong?” I asked.

“Can you please come to the ER?” she asked.

“What happened?” I asked.

“Ms. Alexander just come down.” She replied.

I quickly hung up the phone and looked at Alyssa.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

“It’s Wade. Get in the car.” I said.
