Chapter Five

“Hot Like Fire”

“Shut up!” Reese screamed into the phone. “AHHHHH!!! You’re lying.”

Wade heard Reese scream and ran backstage. “Reese, are you okay?”

At this point Reese was jumping up and down and screaming hysterically.

“Thank you. Thank you for calling. AHHH!!” she screamed and then hung up the phone. Her smile grew even bigger when she saw Wade. She ran towards him and practically jumped into his arms.

“Reese what is going on?” He asked.

“Number one! My album debuted at number one. AHHHH!!!” Reese told him.

“Your kidding…that is so awesome sweetie. I’m so proud of you.” Wade said.

“What’s all the commotion?” Rachael asked.

“My album debuted at number one.” Reese told her.

“AHHHH!!!” she screamed giving Reese a hug.

“What is with girls and screaming?” JC asked coming backstage with Rylie right behind him.

“Reese’s album debuted at number one.” Rachael said excitedly.

“Woo-hoo!” Rylie shouted.

“Congrats.” JC told her.

Reese was so happy she couldn’t believe how everything was falling into place. She had been on tour with *NSYNC for a little over two weeks and she was having the time of her life. The whole situation with Tyler had worked itself out. He had even come to see her perform at the Orlando show and reassured her that nothing was going on with him and Willa Ford. Life was great and a debut at number one was icing on the cake.

“Hate to bust up the party kids, but Reese you’re on in five.” The stage manager said. “And the rest of you need to get ready.”

Reese nodded and the rest of the guys walked back to their dressing room.

“Congratulations again.” Wade said giving her a kiss on the cheek.

“Thanks Wade.” Reese said.

“Good luck tonight.” He said as he followed the rest of the guys.

Reese was on that night. It was the best performance of her life. Right after the show she checked her voice mail to see if Tyler had called. She waited for the phone to dial her voice-mail box. ‘No new messages’ the voice told her. She decided to call his cell. One, two, three, four, five rings and it kept ringing. Finally his voice-mail picked up.

“Hey Tyler its me. I don’t know if you heard but my album debuted at number one. Umm…call me back whenever you can. I love you.” She said.

“Hey you.” Wade said walking into the bus.

“Hey, why aren’t you out watching the show?” she asked.

“I see it every night. I just wanted to tell you how great you were tonight.” He told her.

“Thanks.” She said putting her phone away.

“Calling Tyler? Shouldn’t he be calling you?” Wade asked confused.

“Truthfully? Yes.” Reese said. “He must be in the studio or something.”

“Yeah, probably.” Wade said sounding unconvinced.

“Hey, I forgot to tell you.” Reese said.

“You forgot to tell me that I’m the greatest choreographer you ever had?” Wade teased. “Best looking too?”

“Silly boy, you’re the only choreographer I’ve ever had.” Reese said smiling. “Seriously though. Guess what my next single is going to be?”

“ ‘Here With Me?’ Like you wanted?” Wade asked.

“No, ‘Where You Are.’” She replied.

“Your duet with Tyler?” he asked.

Reese nodded vigorously. “He’s coming to the Chicago show and he’s going to sing it with me and then it will be released to radio the next day. Isn’t that great?”

Wade didn’t really think it was that great, but Reese looked so excited.

“Awesome.” He said. “Really awesome.”
