“Listen to this.” She said handing him her cell phone.
She and Wade sat down on his bed. Wade put the phone up to his ear. “Hey Reese it’s Tyler. Look this whole thing with you and me just isn’t working for me anymore. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but that’s just the way it is. Bye now.”
Wade was ready to jump on the next plane to wherever Tyler was and kick his ass.
“It gets worse.” Reese said. “Listen to the second message.”
“Hey Reese. It’s Willa Ford. I wondering if you wanted to be the opening act on my first tour? I think you’re really talented. Anywho, give me a call at 554-6463.” (That spells I’m a hoe. Heehee)
“Whoa, that was harsh.” Wade said.
Reese nodded. “But I guess I kinda saw it coming.”
“Reese, you are so much better off without him.” Wade said as he put his arm around her. “You deserve someone who will treat you right.”
“That’s what I keep telling myself. I guess my heart just doesn’t get it.” She said.
“Well, it will take some time. I mean you guys were together for a long time.” Wade said. “And I’ll be here if you need me.”
“Thanks Wade. That means a lot.” Reese said. “But now I have a new problem on my hands.”
“Which is?” Wade asked.
“I can’t sing ‘Where You Are’ in Chicago.” Reese said.
“You still want to sing the song? After all this?” Wade asked.
“It’s the first song I ever wrote by myself. It’s still special even if he sang it with me.” Reese said.
“Ask one of the guys to sing it with you.” Wade said. “You know they would.”
“Yeah, probably.” Reese said. They were silent for a few minutes.
“You want to talk about anything?” Wade asked.
“Not now. Let’s just stay like this.” Reese said.
“Whatever you say.” Wade told her.
