Chapter Ten

“Come in.” Lorelai said.

“Hey Lorelai.” Justin replied.

Lorelai blinked, was she imaging things? Was Justin Timberlake standing in her office? It had been almost 2 months since Lorelai had left the tour. The worst two months of her entire life. She missed Wade, she missed him a lot. And not resolving things with Justin left a dull ache in her heart. Since then she had been hired to direct Britney Spear’s Dream Within A Dream tour. She hadn’t had contact with any of the guys since she left.

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

“Can I sit down?” he asked.

“Of course.” She said motioning to the chair. “I thought you’d never want to see me again.”

Justin took a deep breath. “For awhile I felt the same way, but then I realized something.”

“What?” she asked curiously.

“That I’m a jerk.” He said.

“Excuse me?” she asked in disbelief.

“I never let you explain what happened with you and Wade.” He told her.

“So? It was pretty obvious what happened.” She said. “You have every right to hate me.”

“I could never hate you Lorelai.” He told her. “You know what bothers me more than anything in this world?”

She shook her head. He was really confusing her.

“Knowing that you’re unhappy.” He said.

“Justin, I don’t understand.” She replied.

“Lorelai, I want you to be happy.” He said.

“I am happy.” She said.

“No, you’re not. Adrienne and Caitlin tell me you’re miserable.” Justin replied.

Lorelai shrugged. “I’m doing fine.”

“Lorelai, you and I need some closure.” He said.

Lorelai nodded. “There’s so many things I want to say to you.”

“Go ahead.” He told her.

“You will never know how sorry I am about what I did. I never meant to hurt you…it just happened. Knowing that I hurt you…God…it’s the worst feeling in the world. I just wanted to tell you that I love you, I always have, and I’m so sorry.” She choked out.

“You don’t love me anymore sweetie.” He told her.

“What? Of course I do.” She said.

He shook his head. “Your feelings for me ended the moment you kissed him, but I understand. You and I grew apart. It was inevitable and I don’t blame you.”

“I can’t believe this is happening. It’s over.” She said.

“Yeah, it is.” Justin said kissing her forehead and leaving the room.

Lorelai sat in shock. She couldn’t believe how understanding Justin had been. There was a knock at the door.

“It’s open.” She said distractedly.

“So is the assistant tour director job still open?” a voice asked.

“Yes, I just need to see your resume…Wade?” she asked.

He nodded. “Hey Lorelai.”

“What? This day has been so overwhelming.” She said.

“So you want me to leave?” he asked.

“NO!” she said quickly. “I mean, no.”

“Here’s my resume.” He said standing her a piece of paper.

She looked down at the paper. It read:

Lorelai, I know things didn’t exactly start out great between the two of us, but I was wondering if you wanted to give me another chance. Circle yes or no.

Lorelai laughed. “How old are we, 12?”

“Answer.” He told her.

Lorelai picked up a pencil and circled her answer.

“Here you go.” She said handing him the paper.

Wade’s eyes lit up. “Nice choice.”

Lorelai smiled. “I’d like to think so.”
