“Making the Band” Season 3: Episode #8
Hey, hey….welcome to the recaps!!
DISCLAIMER: Okay, here's the deal with the recaps. I use humor in them...the humor is just my opinion so I don't expect you to agree with everything I write. Remember that if you are going to be offended because I make fun of O-Town DO NOT READ MY RECAPS! There are plenty of sites that give just straight recaps. You have been warned so please don’t send reviews saying that you are offended. Thank you!! (In case you’re confused….Ash:Ashley, Jacko: Jacob (this is a reference to Michael Jackson, I’m NOT making fun of him! Well…nevermind) T-Rev: Trevor, E-Squared: Erik, and I call Dan, Dan.)
Dude….the first thing I have to say about this episode is FAKE!!!!! Dang you MTV! Anyway, on to the recap!
Okay, an announcer tells us that tonight’s episode of “Making the Band” follows O-Town to Germany for a special tribute film to their fans. Now the guys are sitting in a movie theater. E-Squared welcomes us to this special episode of the show. T-Rev tells us that the guys have always wanted to make a film. Dan lets us know that they don’t expect this film to win any awards, but Jacko feels it’s a masterpiece. Ash just says to roll the tape. (Here we go….)
First we see black and white shots of Germany. A title rolls across the screen. Mike and Mike Present: Hamburg With Cheese. A film by: O-Town. Starring: Dan (Random girl runs by and smacks his butt…oh fun!), Jacob (He’s in a phone booth yelling into the phone), Erik (He’s dancing in the street), Trevor (He’s hopping over something that looks like a parking meter), and then all the guys except Ash are walking down the sidewalk and then Ash’s head pops out from behind a newspaper and he puts his finger over his mouth in a shhh motion. (Riight) The film also stars: The Euro-Babes of Germany…featuring: Susan, Rosemarie, Christin, and Mrs. Petersling.
Now we see random shots of fans…nothing interesting. The crowds are really big outside the venue. (How much did they pay these girls…JK) This segment is titled Wussup? The guys are backstage and Morin comes in and is all like “It’s Verner.” Jacko and Ash get very excited and ask Verner to teach them German. Jacko doesn’t want to look stupid in front of the fans. (Does his hair already accomplish that task?) Verner thinks that is a good idea because the fans will respect them if they know some German. (O-Town…respect…sure…) Ash wants to know how to say “Wussup?” Verner tells him and then says “I’ll tell you how to say I like big oranges” or something to that effect. Jacob keeps repeating “Wussup” in German to no one in particular. (I scared) Ash tells Verner his Grandpa is from Germany so he wants to know how to tell the fans that fascinating tidbit. Verner tells him and Jacko asks Verner to say big oranges again.
Now we’re inside the venue. Some crazy girl is screaming about how she can’t wait to see Marilyn Manson. (Ica and I did something like that once except we were at a BSB concert and we kept asking when 98 degrees was going to come on…heehee) Then random girls scream out different member names. (The girls are speaking German so everything is in subtitles. What’s funny is when they scream out “Ashley” T-Rev’s name appears on the screen. Fun stuff!) Backstage Ash and Verner are practicing the Grandpa bit and Ash informs us he has a cheat sheet in case he forgets. Next segment…Every six seconds someone faints. Clips of girls passing out in the crowd. Jacko says “Wussup” in German and Ash says a lot of stuff… “German girls are beautiful” blah, blah. Now is his big moment….he informs the audience that his Grandpa came from big oranges. (What a munch!) The audience goes silent and is like “WTF?” A random girl tells us that “That blows. When we saw *NSYNC they spoke perfect German.” (Too funny!) Backstage Jacko informs Ash he screwed up. Ash is like “Nah-uh!” Morin tells him what he really said. Dan calls him Mr. Smooth. Ash decides at every show he will tell the audience his family comes from a different fruit. Next show…pomegranate. (Does he know what a pomegranate is?) Next segment…Chase this! Morin tells the guys that the bus has to be parked like a block away to confuse the rabid fans. They will ride in an ambulance to the bus. Jacko is excited about this for some unknown reason. In the ambulance there are no lights. Ash and Jacko start talking at the same time saying “So there was this one time in Germany…” (Umm…okay…)
New segment…The morning after. Now we’re in Berlin. T-Rev is proud that the guys are having a family breakfast. Then they all splurge because they get to drink orange juice. (I drink OJ everyday…what’s the big deal?) Cronin comes into the restaurant and mumbles something about being late and needing to go. Ash says he has to go to the bathroom and while all the guys get in the vans he goes to the bathroom. Each Mike asks if everyone is there. Each van thinks that they are all accounted for and drive off. Ash walks out of the bathroom and realizes that everyone is gone. “You’ve got to be kidding me” he says. (Too bad MTV lied in the preview…I really thought Ash got lost!) A lone girl sits at a table staring at Ash.
Commercial. T-Rev welcomes us back. The guys joke about how Ash always gets lost. Back to the movie…the next segment Rescue me! Ash walks back into the restaurant and the girl asks if he is Ashley from O-Town. He tells her he is. (Without hesitation I might add) He asks if she saw four guys drive away and she says no. She then asks if he needs help. Ash wants to know if she has a car…she does…can she drive him to his hotel…she will. (I know this is all set-up but come on…like Ash would really be worried…he has a whole camera crew following him…how much trouble could he get in?) In the car Ash explains to the girl what happened. At the hotel…frantic over Ashley. T-Rev and Dan are stuffing fruit into their mouths and telling each other they are special. (I am sooo beyond frightened) The boys are waay too giddy about this game and want to share it with the Mikes. When they open the door crazy screaming girls are standing outside.
The girl introduces herself as Susan and Ash introduces himself. She’s like “Dumbass.” (Okay, not really) She’s like “Yeah, I know.” Ash feels stupid and giggles. Ash asks if the hotel is far…it is. Then she asks if she and Ash can stop by her girlfriend’s house for a second because according to Susan her girlfriend will be all “OMG!” Ash agrees. They go to the house and the girlfriend doesn’t seem too thrilled, but hugs Ash and then another girl emerges from the other room. One girl asks Susan how long she gets to keep Ash. The other girl asks where the rest of them are. Susan tells her the others got away before she could grab them. The girls are speaking in German so Ash just nods and smiles.
New segment…Erik Estrada, International Chick Magnet. Shots of E-Squared hopping in an elevator and running from girls as “Irresistible” plays in the background. (Dude…that segment proves this is a work of fiction…JK) Back to Ash. The girls are all talking about how Susan kidnapped Ash and how he has no idea what’s going on. Then a little girl comes in the room and is like “Ashley.” (Her voice is waay disturbing.) She’s someone’s little sister. She wants to give Ash her O-Town shirt and have Ash give her his shirt. (It’s actually a nice O-Town shirt) They make the exchange and Susan informs her friends that Ash has no idea what she has in store. New segment…Still worried sick over Ashley. Dan and Jacko are walking through the hall talking about how they are craving American food. Suddenly a pack of girls chase them and Dan gets away but Jacko keeps tripping. (Probably cause he runs like me…poorly) Back to Ash. Susan’s cell rings and she tells the caller her plan is working perfectly cause Ash is so gullible. Susan tells Ash there is another girl who wants to meet him. Ash tries to say no but it doesn’t work. Now we’re at someone’s house and Ash and Susan walk in. Two girls see Ash and start to back away. (Smart girls) Then they shake his hand and he comments on their O-Town poster. Next segment…Still panicked over Ashley. Morin is holding a meeting. Outside girls are chanting “O-Town” and the guys wave to them out the window. Jacko actually looks pleased that the girls like O-Town. There is a knock at the door and everyone hopes it’s Ash. Morin doubts it will be. Some hotel worker is at the door. He is the recipient of the ‘funniest line’ award: “If the blonde one doesn’t return can I join your band? Everyone tells me I look like Ikaika.” (Too damn funny!) Morin closes the door and the man knocks again. He tells Morin the fans are causing a disturbance and the band is now kicked out of the hotel. (I think he’s just upset he couldn’t be in the band.) Morin tells the guys that they are being thrown out. The guys ask why and Morin tells them because of the fans. Jacko says it’s not their fault and Dan says the fans should be the ones thrown out. Now we hear what each band member is thinking. E-Squared “We’ve been kicked out of the hotel.” T-Rev “Ashley is still missing.” Jacko “I wonder if Clive Davis likes my songs?” (heehee…)
Commercial and we’re back. E-Squared gives us a recap of what has happened thus far. T-Rev doesn’t understand how they got kicked out of the hotel in their own movie. Jacko says “Dude…all the cool bands get kicked out of hotels!” (Like NKOTB?) Back to the movie…Ash has to leave and the girls are telling Susan “You said we could keep him!” Ash ends up staying longer and eating goose fat with the family. Susan makes strange goose noises. One of the girls is complaining that now she has nothing to sell on e-bay because that little brat Maria got his shirt. Susan asks if Ash has anything left to give the girls…he says no. Two seconds later Ash emerges from another room wearing tight jeans and handing his jeans over to the girls. In the car Ash says he has no clothes and doesn’t understand why Susan kidnapped him. She denies she kidnapped him and points out that they are at the hotel. He gets out of the car and thanks her. (Run Ash run!) He meets up with the guys and they laugh at his clothes.
Next segment…15 minutes to the show. The guys are on the bus and Ash is explaining how German fans are crazier than American fans. Cut to girls in a car stalking the bus. Ash and Dan look out the back window at the cars following the bus. Back in the car one girl comments on how well the homing device Susan put in Ash’s pants is working. (Oh Lordy…) Ash thinks the people in the car are using radios and cell phones. (Huh?) The girl says that they are 120 meters from O-Town and another goes “There is my Love God Ashley!” (Wait…I thought Jacko was God?!) Ash says the fans are nuts. New segment…Chase. The guys are performing “All or Nothing.” THE END!
Back in the movie theater Dan tells us they made the movie for the fans. (Umm…thanks?) Jacko says he had fun making it. (Do my ears deceive me? Jacko had fun? Alert the media!) T-Rev said he enjoyed the process cause it was awesome. E-Squared realizes Ash is missing again and Jacko is back to his angsty self wondering how they could possibly lose Ash during the break. T-Rev sighs and Dan says that Ash is a ninja. The guys leave to find him and Ash walks back in mumbling “Wussup” in German and sits down. Realizing he is all alone he says “Guys?” (Aww…no tour bus epilogue!)
Next week…Finally! Something that has to do with music. Some lady tells O-Town that their album is “spine crawling horror.” The reanimated body of Clive Davis babbles about something and Jacko makes Clive listen to his songs.
Well…that episode was ummm…different. I hate how the previews set you up for something completely different than what is delivered. Alas, I hope you enjoyed this recap…please read and review…I love feedback! Until next week….
