Chapter Fourteen- Together Again

“Hello?” Lance asked.

“Hey, it’s umm…Gwyneth. I was wondering if I could talk to you.” Gwyneth said.

“Don’t you think you’ve done enough damage?” Lance asked.

“Look Lance…hate me all you want, I deserve it. But could you just hear me out for two minutes?” she asked.

“Starting now.” He said.

“Okay, yes it’s true I did pay Felicity to go out with you and to eventually break up with you. I was so blinded by my hurt that I would have done anything to cause you the same pain I was feeling. But as she was executing the plan I could see she was falling for you. Who wouldn’t ya know? I should have put a stop to this when I first noticed it…but I didn’t. Then she gave me all the money back and told me she couldn’t go through with it. The whole thing was wrong and I’m sorry. But please blame me and not her.” Gwyneth said.

Lance was silent for a moment.

“Lance?” Gwyneth asked. “Still there?”

“Yeah, umm…thanks Gwyneth.” He said.

“Sure.” She said hanging up the phone.

Lance sat down on his couch. Did it really matter that this was all Gwyneth’s idea in the first place…Felicity had still gone along with it.

“When did my life get so complicated?” Lance asked.

*****

“Yes?” Felicity asked over the intercom.

“It’s Lance. Can I come up?” he asked.

“Of course.” She said buzzing him into the building.

What was Lance doing here? A moment later there was a knock at the door.

“Hey.” He said.

“Hi, come on in.” Felicity said opening the door.

Lance stepped into her apartment and took a seat on the couch.

“We need to talk.” He told her.

She nodded and sat down as well.

“Why?” Lance asked.

Felicity shook her head. “At the time I told myself it was because I needed the money. Now I realize that I could have figured something else out.” Lance was silent for a moment.

“You know the reason I broke up with Gwyneth is because she always lied to me.” Lance said.

“Oh.” Felicity said feeling even worse. “Lance I never meant to hurt you. If I could go back and change things I would.”

“But then I wouldn’t have met you.” He said.

“What?” Felicity asked with confusion in her voice.

“I think Gwyneth may have done us a favor. You and I probably never would have talked to each other if it wasn’t for her.” Lance explained.

“But I lied to you.” Felicity said.

“Do you love me?” he asked her.

“Yes, more than anything.” She replied.

“Then nothing else matters. Not why you talked to me, not why you agreed to go to Justin’s party with me. All that matters is that you truly love me.” Lance said.

Felicity’s eyes began to form tears. “I do Lance. I love you.”

Lance moved closer to Felicity and put his arms around her shoulders. “I love you too.”

“Oh, I’m so glad…oh I don’t know if I could have handled…” she stuttered.

“Shhh.” Lance said softly rocking her back and forth. “It doesn’t matter.”

“I love you Lance.” She whispered.

“I love you too, baby.” He said. “I love you too.”
