Chapter Nine “Baby I Would”

Two weeks later…

Talk about feeling lousy. Those two weeks were the most horrible experience of my life. I went to rehearsal all day and then went back to the house and sat in my room. The guys were trying not to get in the way, but I knew they were concerned and didn’t know whose side to be on. Dan ignored me and every time I tried to talk to him he just walked away.

“Jordyn come down here.” Trevor called.

“What?” I called back.

“What part of get down here was confusing?” Jacob asked.

I knew if I didn’t go down there Jacob would probably come up and whine until I went down to the living room.

“I’m coming.” I said walking down the stairs. “What is so important…”

“SURPRISE!” a chorus of voices yelled.

I jumped about fifty feet. “What in the world?”

“Happy Birthday!” Trevor said hugging me.

I looked around the living room and realized it was decorated with balloons and crepe paper. In the corner was a pile of gifts and birthday cake. Ashley, Jacob, Erik, the Mikes, and Jena stood before me.

“Jena!” I said giving her a hug.

“Hey girlie. You didn’t think I’d miss your birthday did you?” she asked.

I started crying. “Thank you so much guys.”

I gave everyone a hug and noticed Dan wasn’t there. Why would he be?

“Open your presents.” Ashley said practically jumping up and down.

“Calm down.” I said sitting on the couch and reaching for the first gift.

“That’s mine.” Jacob said.

I opened it up and found a CD with five remixes of ‘Girl.’

“Thanks Jacob.” I said placing the gift on the floor.

Jacob nugged Ashley. “Told you she would like it.”

I opened the rest of my gifts. The Mikes gave me an O-Town management jacket. Erik bought me some CD’s I wanted. Trevor gave me a picture of us that was taken the first day of rehearsal in a beautiful frame. Ashley gave me a stuffed monkey and Jena gave me a furry taplight.

“Thank you so much everyone.” I said.

“One more surprise.” Ashley said turning off the lights. Trevor walked over to the cake and started lighting the candles. Just as I thought the tune to Happy Birthday was about to begin I heard a different song start.

“Would I walk through fire just to be with you?”

It was “Baby I Would,” my favorite O-Town song. But who was singing? I turned around and saw Dan standing in the doorway. When he finished the song he walked over to where I was sitting and pulled me into a standing position.

“I’m so sorry for everything. I’ll make it up to you I promise.” He said.

“I’m sorry too. Do you forgive me?” I asked.

“Of course I do.” He said pulling me into a hug.

“Ohh, I just love a happy ending.” Jacob said.

“Shut up Jacob!” Trevor said. “You’re going to ruin the moment.”

‘No one will ruin this moment.’ I thought. ‘No one.’
