Ashley nodded and walked inside.
“We can talk in the living room.” She said.
After they settled onto the couch Ashley spoke. “Look, I know you’re mad at me.”
Makayla rolled her eyes. “Really?”
“Come on Makayla.” He told her.
“Sorry, I’ll be quiet.” She said.
“You have every right to be mad. I did something you told me not to do.” He said. “But I do care about you and I’m sorry.”
Makayla stared at her hands. “I know you are. And I know you care about me. I care about you too.”
“So do you forgive me?” Ashley asked hopefully.
Makayla remained silent playing with the pillow on the couch.
“So he liked the songs huh?” she asked breaking the silence.
“Yeah.” Ashley said warily. “He said you showed a lot of promise.”
“You know I really should be thanking you.” Makayla said.
“Come again?” Ashley asked surprised.
“I never would have worked up the nerve to show anyone what I wrote.” She said. “And I probably would never have thought to send them to someone in the industry.”
“So…” Ashley asked.
“So thank you.” She said giving him a hug.
After they broke apart Ashley looked at her. “Are we okay?”
Makayla nodded. “Just listen to me next time I tell you something okay?”
“Whatever you say.” He said.
“So what’s this I hear about you making out with someone on a ski lift for ten minutes?” she asked.
Ashley blushed. “You read Popstar?”
Makayla nodded. “Yes. Quite an interesting read.”
“So want to try it?” Ashley asked with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
“I have absolutely no problem with that.” Makayla replied.
