I have currently two on-going bets I can recall.

One has to do with broadband access here in Israel. It was placed back in the winter of 1998 and was something like: it's going to get hot, get cold again and get hot again before I'll have anything but a modem at home. I won. I'm still waiting for a paid dinner. And I'll get it as it got colder, and soon it's getting warmer, and I'm still with my 56kb modem.

The other had to do with the time it would take contact.com to get 1 Million users. I'm going to lose it, and will have to buy 200 NIS worth of drinkable alcohol (probably beer) to two of my buddies.

I had numerous others but forgot them. Most of the people I know bet and forget. Not anymore.

iBetcha.com is betting on this trend. The Wadi Company (you know, "with R&D facilities in Israel") offers a simple web service. Log in. Join open bets. Create your own bets. It's not gambling, no money is involved and it brings back childhood memories.

BTW, I also have an ongoing bet on Be incorporated (BEOS), makers of the Be Operating System, but this one wasn't placed on iBetcha, instead I chose the best gambling facility in the world. You know where.
