:: The Snake Bites Its Own Tail ::
That's it - I'm converted. I have stopped using mail programs altogether and now exclusively use Web-based email services. Hotmail, Yahoo!Mail or
Exchange Web Access, it's all the same to me and means one thing: Simplicity. Goodbye duplicate mail, Hello worldwide access to my mailbox, etc.
In fact, many other applications suffer from similar problems and would want to be synchronized between multiple computers: My address book (Contact
Networks and others are working on that, but you still have to download a client), my ICQ contact list (Solved partially with Yahoo!Messenger Java version), my Word Documents
(ThinkFree.com have a semi-solution up and running) and others.
At the end of this process, I would have my whole desktop to be one big web-access, with all applications running on remote servers. Then, with a good
browser and an even better Internet connection, I would me a made man. Many more companies are actually making exactly this move, rendering my local hard-disk useless.
You know what, I even have a catchy name for this system: I'll call it (Dr. Evil style) "Main Frame Computers" and "Terminals" - I think that would be
a great hit with airlines and military HR systems.
