:: Independence Day ::
The Nation State is a relatively new idea. It was born out of the renaissance, gained momentum in the 19th century, and became a "must have" by the end
of the last century. Every ethnic group want's to be independent. To have it's own state.
And the dynamics are astonishingly familiar.
East and West Germany merged. South Vietnam became the target of a Hostile Takeover. China reacquired its Hong Kong Subsidiary. South Africa has gone
through an Employee Buyout. In Slovenia they are still working on their Start-Up and Great Britain can't stop Spinning-Off, from India to Ireland.
But one thing is still missing. An Acquisition.
How about: "Oracle, IBM and Intel has announced today they will acquire the State of Israel in a share swap deal."
Or: "Silicone Valley officials confirmed they plan to acquire Tel-Aviv metropolis area to boost global expansion".
Or even: "Larry Ellison Acquired Herzliya. Says the area not only has great growth potential, but is also a nice place to park the yacht".
Now this sounds a little absurd, but then again, wouldn't it be nice to have some real management around, get bonuses to replace taxes and celebrate
IPO Day instead of Independence Day?
It might.
So, Celebrate Primordial Nationalism while you can, and have a nice day.
