:: First Look :: Tomeo ::
My grandfather used to say that in every bet person one is a cheat, and the other one is a sucker. In the 80’s, this simple rule of thumb was
extrapolated with the notorious pyramid schemes. The idea was to propagate the amount of suckers, by making cheats out of them. The people at the head of the pyramid - reaped all
the profits. While pyramid schemes were outlawed in the U.S., at the eve of the last millennium, we were acquainted with the next generation - Self-propagating software and
e-mail. This is how it works - A good friend asked me to try new software, from ikena.com. He was very persistent. When I asked him why he cared so much - he explained if he
signed enough people - he will get a DVD player. I didn’t join (had enough collaboration software for one year, thank you). We all know the drill - the grand ole’
referrer-id system. Why am I telling you all this?
I’m telling all of this because a new high (or low) was reached by an Israeli company (what a surprise) - Tomeo. Joining Tomeo, you can add
banners to your outgoing e-mails. You get money for each member you sign in, and if someone you convinced to join has bought anything from that banner - Whoa! You hit the jackpot.
I registered for Tomeo months ago. I didn’t invite anyone, didn’t put any banners in my e-mail, and yet - This week I got a Tomeo T-Shirt AND a 4 (four) dollar check.
Yup. Tomeo sent me a check for 4 dollars, all the way from San-Francisco. So basically - I got money for doing absolutely nothing. You can count on Israeli ingenuity to invent a
whole new model - No more cheats and suckers - Now everyone is a sucker.

P.S. I’m taking bets as to how long it will take Tomeo to go "Hypernix"..
