:: The Globes Interview ::
The one thing I like most about the net is the archives. As opposed to news, which always lack perspective, history has it. And archives are the tool for it. One of my favorites
here in the Wadi is the Globes Archive and especially their Weekly Start-Up archive.
For example take Bridges for Islands.
On Tuesday , Dec 7, 1999 on The Weekly Start-Up interview, founder Dov Biran the following was written: "In recent months a number of companies in
the intra-enterprise applications integration field have held successful public issues. They include TIBCO Software, Active Software and Vitria Technology, whose market value is
estimated at close to $2 billion. Biran is convinced he will join them within two years, at a company value befitting the best and largest of IT companies."
On Tuesday , Feb 29, 2000, after the company was sold for $18M, General manager Motti Vaknin said: "An Israeli company raising a few millions has
very little chance of competing on the global market."
And B4I was a nice technology focused company, or so I've read. And they made a deal, didn't just burn out of the sky.
And others?
The Globes archive has scores of other interviews with people here in the wadi. Some of them promise millions of users, other promise an IPO within
months.
I must admit I'm tempted to dig all of them for you right now. But like archeology, time is very important. I will dig them for you in due time, or,
you can just dig them yourselves.
