:: What about me? ::
That's it. I have made the switch. Some minor details left to iron out, but basically I'm there. I installed Red Hat Linux 6.1 on my home
machine. And it was easy, maybe even too easy. I don't need my Windows OS anymore. And the best thing: I felt like a true hacker at the end of the day.
But then I read the diaries of Rob Malda, creator and seller of SlashDot.org, the super-star Linux community, the place for nerds to be. Last
year he sold the company, and had an IPO, and finally had some time to write poetry.
Very similarly to Jamie Zawinski (when the latter left Netscape), Malda speaks nostalgically about the good old days when it was just a few
hackers putting together all of this open source spirit, and how it was nothing like it is today.
That's why I feel betrayed. I thought I was joining the revolution, I would be one of them, and now I hear it's too late? It's all over?
Well. I won't take that for an answer.
I demand a new money-less revolution, that is built underground by a group of long-haired fanatics. I want to taste the pizza and code at
night while working during the day. And I want to be part of it, this time.
So, if any of my readers hears about such a project, please email me ASAP.
