There is one good thing about BmyPC that anyone can notice - it's a cool name.

What BmyPC is offering is a virtual desktop.

The idea is simple - you register with the service and you can have your desktop available anywhere in the world. The need is clear too. But there is a catch.

BmyPC doesn't deliver. The idea is not new (have a look at www.desktop.com), and in no way is it superior to other services on the net (have a look at www.HotOffice.com or www.ThinkFree.com ). After browsing the site I was surprised to find out there is practically nothing there that isn't available in a better form somewhere else. Thinking about it there is nothing there but a simple web site. And this won't pull it, not in today's world anyway.

In a way this Wadi Start-Up is so naive that it makes you just want to hug them, hold them, and tell them, "never mind it's going to be fine". It won't.

According to the press BmyPC raised $300K form TechnoPlast and an additional $2.5M from a British company called Start Up Station. BmyPC was valued at $10M post money. Which makes me want to hug their investors too.

But the name is cool.

Ah, and a tip for you all that like me, liked the name - BmyTV.com is taken. Better luck next time.
