:: Portals Galore ::

Try to make a mental lists of all the so-called Israeli portals you know: Nana, Walla!, IOL, Tapuz, Netking, Achla, Zooloo, start, Zap, etc. The list goes on and on and on. Honestly - Can you really tell me the difference between all of these?

Yes, Yes, I know, If you think hard enough you can figure out some differences - This one has tech news only, this one has better forums and all that. But are these minuscule differences really worth having so many sites?

I think that if we've learned something it is that there is only room for 2-3 major portals in a user's surfing habits. If any of these portals want to survive - They need to start differentiate themselves fast. They need to start specialize in different areas.

Now, I'm not a money person. I don't understand finance - I barely remember to pay my bills. But common sense claims that there is so much money to go around, and it's not going to go to a quadrillion portals which all look alike. My advice - Take a look at the 'sectored' portals like www.ice.co.il and www.psakdin.co.il. They have better odds then most of the name in the list I've mentioned above.
