:: Another Look :: InfoGear ::
We all know that Wadi Start-Up companies should avoid consumer products or they are doomed.
Have you ever seen an iPhone? I assume you did. Try to remember. It is a kind of a large phone with an LCD screen and a small keyboard that connects to
the Internet. It looks like a fax machine but is actually an e-mail machine. A neat device that you can find in almost any Office Supply/Computer Store in Manhattan, next to the
Visors, Palms, Vaios and Macs.
And?
And the iPhone is made by InfoGear. A Wadi company that was acquired by Cisco for something around 300 Million dollars, give or take. Not bad.
Someone in Cisco thought that this was worth the time. Maybe an iPhone on every home router, maybe a router on every iPhone, maybe just good
engineering, good engineers, and a product that though not exciting today, has room to grow.
A consumer product.
Not bad for a doomed company.
Anyone up for good PDA and Cell Phone integration?
