:: Very Interesting ::
One of the good things one gets to experience when
working in the Wadi is meeting people who were born in other countries. Obviously, one could get a similar experience by staying on a Kibbutz for the summer and spending some time
in the "Volunteers" area of the Kibbutz, but the Wadi experience has more to it as it involves talking not just
gymnastics.
Again, I'm blabbering. We will get right to the
point.
I happened to notice that English speakers tend to
use the phrase "Very Interesting" a lot. "Very Interesting Technology", "Very Interesting Concept", "Very Very Interesting Business Model", you know stuff like
that.
I also happened to notice that those very specific
meetings usually end with nothing. You fly back home, follow up on the meeting, get a polite response in the mail and that is about it.
Nada.
Very
Interesting.
Very Interesting
indeed.
I'm not sure about it but I have a feeling those
English speakers just don't get it. There are ways to conduct business and one of them is that you should tell people straight in the face what you think about them. For example -
"Your company sucks and you should use deodorant more often". You know stuff like that. But they don't. And we keep on meeting them. And the airlines keep getting our money. So do
the hotels.
Now the only thing I can tell you is that this was
a Very Interesting issue of the Wadi list.
And yes, I would love to learn more about
it.
See you
around.
