:: Another Look :: RichFX ::
Formerly known as WebGlide, RichFX is a company offering a small program the user has to
install in order to take a 3D virtual tour through e-commerce sites. Real Networks is one of the
investors.
RichFX is an easy case to talk about. I can summarize it in three words: VDOnet class
Plug-in.
VDOnet is a longer
story.
Somewhere in the old days this Wadi company was pioneering Video transmutation over the
internet. I remember plugging this app into my Netscape (1.0, I think) and waiting over a 14.4kb connection to see a video. Though this was back in the old days, the picture was
much like the one an average Internet user will get today from an average streamer - meaning - an array of random colorful pixels flickering at a slow rate. As all knew back than
that Video is the killer app, Microsoft invested in the
company.
Over the years the company grew bigger and bigger until it became one of the most important
companies to ever come out of Israel. OK, I was kidding. Over the years the company just flickered into
oblivion.
And as for
RichFX?
Well, no chance they will just flicker into oblivion. My bet is that they'll glide there with
some Rich Effects.
