:: First Look :: SellSo ::

SellSo is a very traditional company. The company itself is a start-up, but it has traditional thinking.

SellSo offers Software distributors and vendors the ability to add to their software a component that will enable them both to track and support in real-time the software users. The capability is extremely important for vendors of high-end software where the conversion rate between people who evaluate and those which end up as customers is a critical factor of success.

So SellSo sounds like a cool idea?

In a way it does. And in a way it doesn't.

It does make sense to use such a product, only that the payment has to be tied to performance. You can only expect Software vendors to pay part of their marginal profit. And that might not turn to be much.

So you want my bet right?

Here it is.

SellSo will not take off. Not because what it offers is not needed. It is because it is not exciting enough.

AppStream sounds exciting. Dot.Net sounds interesting. SellSo doesn't. So while exciting and interesting things can either hit big or hit brick, SellSo can only do well.

And doing well just doesn't cut it anymore.

Sorry.
