:: Mouth Wide Open ::

Getting in touch with reality is hard. When reality itself is hard, it is even harder.

Think of our reality.

Some people deemed riding a bus dangerous years ago. Others did it in 1996. Others accepted reality just now. Same thing with driving your car behind or near a bus. Some people understood this is dangerous in 1996, some only now, and some haven't figured it out yet. They will, once they get in touch with reality.

Recently I heard of a new thing - keeping your mouth open when you go outside your home.

Why?

Because apparently, when a bomb explodes, a lot of damage is done by crashing pressure on the lungs. If your mouth is open, air is pressured out through the mouth, preventing the lungs from imploding.

And it's the same with Start-Ups.

The earlier they get in touch with reality, the earlier they understand they need to change the way they handle themselves, the better their chances of survival are. Those who understood something was wrong in January were ready for April, by taking even harsher measures they could have survived November, and by going all the way, just might pull it through the tough year ahead. Those that didn't will explode one after the other like buses.

So, if your company didn't ride the bus in the last year you should now make sure it keeps its mouth wide open. Besides protecting the internal organs it will make it easier for the company to blow anyone willing to pay.

And though this is not something to be proud of, this is a touch of reality.
