:: Sewerspace ::
You've all heard of Cyberspace, right? (If
you answered no to that question, no need to bother on
reading). So - Here's the new term you need to know -
Sewerspace. Yup. Sewer's, as in BIYUV. As it would seem,
one of the major obstacles for wiring cities to
broadband (Not to mention cable TV and phone lines).
You've got all these old buildings, and it costs a lot
to wire them. Which in turn - Makes you charge a lot of
money on these services.
So, How do you solve this problem? a firm
called CityNet developed something called SAM - Sewer
Access Module. It's a small robot, which can install
fiber-optics in, you guessed it, the sewer system. This
idea is so ingenious, that its amazing that nobody
thought about it before, not to mention the Freudian
connection between cyberspace and sewers.
This thing has already been tried in
several cities in Europe, and it's going to enter the
U.S. in April, in the fine city of Omaha.
Now - This could have been a great
solution for the Wadi, with all the legal fights between
cable companies, Nezeq and YES, but here - the sewers
can't even hold what they're supposed to hold, let alone
fiber optics.
And it is not because the sewers are too
small. Just because, you know, we do produce a lot of
shit.
