:: Us and Them ::
They say that all the Wadi is, is
something around 100 thousand people. All the rest are
doing something else with their lives. And there are a
lot of them.
For over a year now I have been catching
signs that they are not happy with us. An article here,
a quote there, something on a bulletin board. Over time
I came to understand the signs are getting stronger. And
with the recent Tech sector not keeping up with the
promise to change the world, they will only get
stronger.
Like all feelings of injustice, this is
not a rational thing. It's a seat of the pants thing.
The anger of the Have-Nots toward those who Have. The
envy. The distrust. The hate.
Now here and there you can catch people
say that these feelings can be eased by charity and
community work. Bull. A conscience can be cleared with
those, but not the root of the problem. In a way it will
only make the feelings of injustice stronger.
So?
So, be rich and shut up.
At least you'll have some dignity
left.
