:: First Look :: IDcide ::

The controversy and discussion about Babylon being a SpyWare was so stupid I just had to wait till everybody forgot about it in order to cover it. And this item is not about Babylon or Cydoor. It is about a Wadi company named IDcide.

IDcide? Hummm...

Let's do a little test.

How many of you ever downloaded IDcide Privacy Companion? I'll rephrase. How many of you ever heard about it? I'll rephrase. How many of you ever bothered to send google to search for such tools? I'll rephrase. How many of you really care about your on-line privacy? I'll guess. You don't.

But hell, I'll tell you about IDcide anyway.

IDcide has products targeted at two markets: Personal and Enterprise. The personal one is called Privacy Companion and it is a free Browser add-on that will block tracking advertising networks from tracking you. It is kind of neat and kind of informative and it kind of prevents spying on you when you surf the net. The Enterprise ones are not less important, as they help companies make sure their own sites don't violate user's privacy. Kind of a merge between an auditing system and a monitoring system.

So?

So, it's tough.

The products are neat and privacy is important, only problem is, it seems what most people really care about is not privacy but spreading e-rumors around.

How about spreading this for a change?

Advertising doesn't invent them. It just tells you there're there.
