:: The List :: Last Page ::

What's fun about the Wadi is that it is funny.

Let's pick up from yesterday bashing the D&A list of Israel's largest private high-tech companies published by TheMarker.

Here are some things I liked most on the first page (ranking 86 to 170):

Number 87: TelesciCOM
Value according to D&A: $80M (Value at previous round according to D&A: $50M)
D&A Comment: Must succeed in raising money or its existence might be in danger.
Wadi List Translation: OK. Here is. Company is out of cash. Someone might invest. We at D&A think he doesn't read TheMarker and thus is not aware of the situation and will value the company at higher valuation than it was previously valued at.
Wadi List Comment: I hope no investors read the Wadi List either.

Number 102: e-now
Value according to D&A: $70M
Wadi List Comment: The company develops a search engine for internet chats. I think it can even search on chats made with Hypernix Gooey but I'm not sure about it.

Number 107: EverAd
Value according to D&A: $60M
D&A Comment: The current situation of the Internet requires finding a stable business model.
Wadi List Comment: Yes. I like it. We had the same comment with Atomica. I'll remind you. Think about the value investors recently gave I-Mesh and Cydoor then discount it assuming the company had no one using its products. I'm sure that with some math it is possible to get to $60M. We did that with Atomica didn't we?.

Number 164: HotBar
Value according to D&A: $42M
D&A Comment: Real Sales.
Wadi List Comment: I'm worried. So all the other companies have faked sales? I should really ask the people at Broadcom about this.

And that is about it.

Just one more thing.

When going for "the largest private high-tech companies" people usually go with estimated revenues. But, hell, I guess we wouldn't have 200 if we tried this. So let's stick to valuations. It is easier and more exciting.

And it can also be funny for a while.

You know, sad things are the funniest ones.
