Did you know that the first chewing substance was from herbs? The Indians 
used the sticky white fluid from dandelions, after it was air dried to chew
Herbs have been used for healing for generations, before their were 
pharmacies. Long before pill and capsules, Indians were healing with leaves, 
plants and bark. They were our first scientists. Herbs can be taken internally 
and externally. Finding an herbs dosage and route of use took years of"trial and 
error" study.
Foxglove was used for a heart stimulant correctly before it became 
digitalis
Catnip was used to clear a cold and colic in infants.
Mullein was used. The leaves and roots were dried and used for respiratory 
problems. Liquid was made from boiling water poured on the leaves and mixed with 
honey. It made an effective cough syrup.
Dried leaves of mullein were smoked to help relieve asthma symptoms. Mullein 
is very versatile.
Plantain leaves were heated in water and used as wet dressings on wounds.
Among some herbs that were smoked for pleasure were cornsilk and 
licorice.
Coltsfoot was burned to ash, then the ashes were used as salt, improving the 
flavors of wild meats.
Sage was used as a tea for colds, or rubbed under the arms as deodrant.
Herbs today are being used for aroma therapy as they are finding that 
different aromas effect people differently.
