Macarthur District Model Railway Club, Inc.
The club occupies a 130 year old station building at Menangle, just south of Campbelltown on the main southern line between Sydney and Melbourne. The station building has been listed under Heritage Legislation, with the NSW State Rail Authority being responsible for the outside of the building and the club the inside.
The station building is no longer used by passengers and has been fenced off from passing trains. A modern shelter has been constructed at the other end of the platform for passengers.
About the Club:
The Macarthur District Model Railway Club is situated in the Campbelltown (Macarthur) area, south west of Sydney.
The club was formed in 1988.
Members are engaged in modelling in various scales including HO and N and a wide range of prototypes, with Australian HO being the most popular.
A large modular HO layout "Macarthur District" is the club's main layout. The layout has travelled to many exhibitions over the years including the AMRA Sydney Exhibition.
For the last couple of years the club has been building a non-portable layout in several rooms of the station building.
The club also organises a 2 day exhibition as part of Campbelltown's Festival of Fisher's Ghost in November of each year.
