Performance Mods: None.....YET!
Future Plans: Have mapped out a series of Mods that will begin with a total make over into a "Caprice SS". I will be avoiding Impala specific logos to avoid false advertising despite the lack of significant mechanical difference between the 9C1 and Impala SS Packages. Most of the planned mods are cosmetic. I will be, in part, relying on my fellow SS enthusiasts and their aftermarket experience to help me plan out the most effective performance mods from the many available for my baby. Despite my desire to often take the road less traveled, the process will most likely begin with a profession paint job making my baby black. I know this is not an unusual color for the SS, but if I'm going to change the color, I can't think of a more appropriate one. I might still consider a deep, rich dark blue just to be different, but probably not. Other items will include the typical grill and trim and badges, though I will keep decoration to a minimum with the belief that "less is more". Wheels and tires will also be an early must. I will also be bringing the interior in line with the addition of a center console and audio upgrade. I have decided that a RAMAir system of some flavor need to be my first performance upgrade. I do not feel the need to touch the suspension for now, but will probably concentrate on fuel and air for now. Having said that, I would also like to upgrade to performance rotors and pads during this process as well as I am not currently satisfied with the stop on a dime performance of the current set up. This is probably an unfair expectation of a system that has to bring 2+ tons of rolling Chevy to a stop, but that's just how I feel, so there! I am pleased to find many BMW's do not like me, especially with my baby's current "sleeper" configuration, but I look forward to giving them and others more warning and just as little satisfaction at seeing me at a red light. At least the victims I have met so far have had a sense of humor, including a smile and a wave, but I suspect that sense of humor lasted right up until they went back to the dealership to ask why they paid 50,000 dollars for a car that couldn't even outrun a lousy, stinking, *&@*#(*&@ Caprice! HEHEHEHEHE!
