Understand that everyone living in Afghanistan is considered and called an Afghan but the proxy war that has been going on in Afghanistan has used the different ethnic groups as a tool to try and completely wreck all aspects of what Afghanistan is, to briefly introduce you to...

Afghanistan's Ethnicity

Afghanistan's majority population is made of an ethnic group called Pushtuns. They make up about 60% to 70% of Afghanistan's population. Their origins can be traced back to the same piece of land that they are still currently living in today. They are an ancient people. Since the beginning of recorded history they have been there.
Aside from the Pushtuns, every other ethnic group comes from other areas of Asia. The Tajeks from from a place called Tajekistan. The Uzbeks come from an area called Uzbekistan. The Hazaras are of a mixed origin. They have a mongolian resemblence. They might be the closest resemblence that can be found to Genghis Khan.
Their origin comes partly from the blood of Genghis Khan's army. When Genghis Khan attempted to conquer Afghanistan, his army reproduced during the attempt and the result is the ethnic group called the Hazaras. The Turks come from a place called Turkmenistan.
