A WashingtonPost article's subject is discussed in...

Bush and Drugs

The Medicare plan proposed by Bush will be said to cost about $134 billion more than it was expected to. This means that taxpayers are going to end up paying more than they were expected to. People on both sides of the political spectrum in the belt-way of Washington are not happy with how things are going. Bush had promised Medicare benefits for seniors along with tax cuts but it seems that seniors have won Bushes path and the taxpayers have been charged with providing. Medicare proposals by Bush have caused a lot of problems for younger people.
The federal government is going to tax more in order for at least one of Bushes promises could be kept. And it can be seen why Bush would decide to go with seniors rather than tax payers. Seniors that the types of people who turn out for the voting. The taxpayers will be the younger generation coming into the work force. The Washington Post states, "If people thought they were voting for a $400 billion budget, it's distressing" (WashingtonPost). It might not have been distressing if the younger generations would have voted in the first place and voted wisely at that.
But because of the illusions and lopsidedness of the media and what it has to say, the Medicare promises might not even be fulfilled. An article in the Washington Post states, "Bush made a commitment to give seniors a prescription drug benefit and modernize Medicare, and he's delivered". But the article also states that "the drug benefit is not scheduled to start until 2006", two years after Bush's first term which means that in order for anyone to actually see and feel a real difference it would require Bush to be President a second time. He has planned ahead and has the voters (who turn out) on his side. But it is still not too late to change things around. Nonetheless problems for the younger generations of America are not too far off in the horizon, in fact Democratic Rep. Rahm Emanuel says, "not any senior has seen any assistance, yet we've just slugged the taxpayers for another $140 billion". Even if Bush were to lose his second attempt at the presidency that younger generation will pay the price for his actions.
Civil liberties are being violated in a way that segregation is being put into place between the Baby-boomers and younger generations and the Baby-boomers are in the spoils while younger generations deal the whatever problems arise. The Federal government above the state and local governments will be the most correlated with Medicare in that it is closest to Bush. The older generation will get the benefits while the younger generation will pay for the benefits and so many problems caused by Bush could be foreseen for the younger generations.
