A WashingtonPost article's subject is discussed in...
Bush Tax Cuts
With the biggest deficit that anyone can really remember, the democrats definitley have a powerful issue on their side. The tax cuts promised were very inviting. But with a very high amount of spending by Bush for some real unknown reason in foriegn affairs along with these tax cuts, the economy doesn't look good at all. The U.S is having problems with the economy under the Bush administration.
The federal government has increased spending oversees while U.S citizens are increasingly becoming jobless. The federal government is really the only level of government that can do this so they are clearly the ones to blame. This micrscope can be focused even further when it is considered that the president, Bush, is very influential is foriegn affairs and can control foriegn policy much easier that domestic policy. Democrats can now clearly see that the job issue is a very big opportunity for them.
This is so because there is a lot of issues across the nation about jobs. Republicans are for big business and what big business wants is money, and after that, even more money. In order for this to happen more easily companies such as Wal-Mart have begun to take recruit employees from foriegn countries like China, and thier pay is dramtically lower than a workers in the U.S. A Kerry aid has said "Outsourcing is a new phenomenon"(Weisman). The economy is said to now be increasing but without U.S citizens. Civil Rights can be said to be under attack by these actions. Unions might start to weaken very quickly and the ability of a person to increase thier standard of living could decrease as well.
Demcrats have a very good opportunity to get votes if they take the right stance(s) with this issue. The U.S economies status should be determind by the status of the workers of the U.S (if there are goiong to be any in the future). It should not be determined by the status of the big businesses. Nonetheless this appears to be what it has become under the Bush admintration.
