A Bundy kinda place
My little piece of the world. and my travels to other little pieces of the world!
Wasting time
I recently made a list of tasks to be done.. ranging from getting my mower serviced to having the house re-painted outside.

So my schedule is getting busy.

Tuesday I arrange to get off work 15 minutes early for a dental appointment.  I got to the dentist 5 minutes before the scheduled time.  But then I waited 50 minutes to get in to the dentist's chair.  Fortunately it was only a routine check-up and clean.  And I didn't have to go back to work.

But my mower service centre is just across the road.  If I'd known, I could've used my time more efficiently and dropped the mower in before I went to the dentist.. rather than after.

Later, I was waiting for a painting company to come to do an inspection for a quote.  The arranged time was 2.30 to 3pm.  Finally, the person arrived at 4.05pm.

10 minutes later, my nephew arrived for some help with a school assignment.  I had rung to say they were running late.  The assignment (involving planning and costing a holiday) took 4 hours.  I hadn't expected it to take that long.

What a day!

Goodness - I knew that the "laid back, show up whenever they feel like" was an island mindset - but didn't realize it was that way on on as large as yours.
That waiting time is sadly not much more than the average here for doctors and dentists - they tend to overbook and then run about a half hour to fortyfive minutes behind. I hate to wait, so I've resolved that issue by always getting the first appointment of the day - that way, I'm never left waiting more than a few minutes.
And when tradesman don't show on time and don't call (everyone here after all has a cell) - I generally give them half an hour and then I leave......because if they can't show up on time for a bid, I don't trust them doing the work.
Does sound like you are quite busy...and why are you getting your mower serviced in the wintertime? (It is winter, right?)

Yes, it's winter.. and that means the mower shops are quiet. There's no long wait to get a service. So, when spring comes around, I'll be out mowing while other people are still waiting to get their mowers looked at.

Goodness, quite logical when you explain it properly. I have an electric one so the only servicing it needs is a blade sharpening during the season - and so I just have to find a place that still does that sort of thing (or perhaps I should ship it out to you).
