BBC RESIDENCE WALFERDANGE has existed since 1967.
Walferdange is a township of 5,000 people located 5 km north of the capital Luxembourg-City in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a state of 450,000 people. The Club counts more than 200 players: women, men, youngsters and participates with 16 teams in all Luxembourg national competitions.In the early seventies the BBC RESIDENCE Women team was the early flagship of the Club winning in 1971 and 1973 the Luxembourg Cup competition.
The BBC RESIDENCE Men team started playing for the first time in 1974 in the Luxembourg top league championship.
In the late Seventies and in the Eighties, BBC RESIDENCE Youth teams won numerous championships and national cups.In 1984, the Women's team had another prestigious and successful season winning the Luxembourg Cup in that year and winning Championship in 1989.
The Nineties showed to become a great decade for BBC RESIDENCE.
The BBC RESIDENCE Men's team won the Luxembourg Championship three years in a row: 1993, 1994, 1995, and won another title in 1997. In 1993 the RESIDENCE Men's team won the first Double for the Club: Champion and Luxembourg Cup.The BBC RESIDENCE Women's team won the Championship in 1998 and 1999 and won National Cup competitions in 1995 and 1997.
After years of prestigious success, the BBC Residence Men's team started in 2001 to build up a new competitive men's team based on youngsters coming out of the Club Junior team which won National Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001.
Finally in 2001, the more than thirty year-old success story of BBC RESIDENCE Women team, was crowned by winning the Double: Championship and National Cup.
BBC RESIDENCE Walferdange's famous Hall Sportif was the battleground for prestigious European Cup fights.
In European competition the BBC RESIDENCE WALFERDANGE Men's team played such renowned teams as the CR teams of Prague and Brno, the English Sheffield Sharks and the Portuguese team of Oveiro.
The Women's team played in the European Cup such prestigious teams as the French Bourges and Aix-en-Provence, the English Crystal Palace, the Italians of Priolo, the CR team of Karlovy-Vary, the Portuguese of Santarem, the German teams Aschaffenburg and Cologne and the Spanish Champion Sandria Gran Canaria. In October, BBC RESIDENCE will play the Spanish team of Salamanca.
